October stepped off the escalator at the Juneau airport and glanced at the various signs for directions to the ferry to Hoonah. Christmas music could be heard over the din. The Juneau airport was much smaller than Calgary International, yet it was no less busy with people trying to get to loved ones before Christmas.
A familiar face materialized out of the crowd and October didn't hesitate to fling herself into Bam's waiting arms.
"You're not supposed to be here!" She exclaimed while pressing her body against his.
"I couldn't wait." He said, tightening his arms around her. "I couldn't wait to see you." She was back in his arms and everything was right with the world.
Bam felt a hand slap his back and a friendly voice warn, "Dude, that's my sister."
Reluctantly, Bam pulled away from October to shake hands with August. With one arm still firmly wrapped around October's waist, Bam eyed the backpack slung over August's shoulder. "Your knives in there?" He inquired with a grin.
"Nope." August shook his head. "Couldn't bring them in carry-on."
Bam grinned wider and wrapped both arms around October again to pull her in for another tight hug. She buried her face into his hair as he whispered into her ear. "Damn girl, I missed you." October lifted her face to brush a light kiss across his mouth.
"Later." She promised as her cheeks tinged pink from Bam's forwardness in front of her brother. August made a disgusted face and cleared his throat loudly.
"You must be August." A petite girl with long, brown hair and glasses similar to Bam's said with a shy smile. "I'm Snowbird. But you can call me Birdie."
August nodded. "Bam told me he had little sisters. He didn't tell me you were gorgeous!"
Birdie glanced down to her shoes and blushed slightly. "Is that all the luggage you brought?" She asked.
"Yep." August replied. "I like to travel light." Birdie glanced over to Bam and October still locked tightly in an embrace. Her upper lip curled ever so slightly. "Come on." She said to August brightly. "I'll show you the way to the ferry." August hitched his backpack up on his shoulder and offered his arm to Birdie. She tucked her hand in the crook of his elbow with a tiny giggle. "Lead on, fair maiden." August said loudly.
Bam tore his gaze away from October to watch August and Birdie as they retreated from the airport. "What is he doing?" He asked with eyes narrowed.
"Relax, he's just introducing himself to your sister." She said lightly. Bam picked up October's bag and took her hand in his. They followed their siblings out to the ferry that would take them to Hoonah.
Bam watched his sister and August walk arm in arm through the automatic doors. "I thought August was..." His voice trailed off.
"Gayer than a picnic basket on the first of May?" October supplied.
Bam snorted. "That's one way of putting it."
October shrugged but offered no other explanation.
"So August," Birdie started as they walked down the sidewalk toward the ferry dock. "Can I call you Auggie?"
"Sure." He grinned slyly over his shoulder at Bam. "But only you, Princess."

Ami, Billy and Noah greeted them as they arrived in Browntown. Bam made introductions for August, who shook hands all around except with Ami, who insisted on a hug. After releasing August from her embrace, Ami turned to October to envelope her in a welcoming hug.
