Oy! It took me forever to craft this chapter exactly the way I wanted it and I'm still not sure it's perfect but I'm posting it anyway so I can go onto the chapter. Hope it was worth the wait!

"Good morning, Lover." Bam murmured and brushed his lips over October's shoulder. Her eyes fluttered open and she smiled sleepily at him.

"Merry Christmas, Lover." She replied. "What time is it?"

Bam's beard tickled against her neck. "Who cares?" His tongue flicked against the side of her throat.

"I do!" She squealed. "Christmas only comes once a year. I don't want to sleep through it!"

"Before I met you, I thought October only came once a year."

October groaned and giggled at the same time. "We've proven that theory wrong haven't we?"

Bam tightened his arms around her waist. "Yes. Several times." He nuzzled his chin into the hollow of her neck and grazed her skin with his teeth.

October pushed lightly against his shoulder. "Mmmm baby, I'm glad that you're attracted to me and all but I could really use a bath." She made a face at him.

Bam sat up in bed and tossed the covers off his legs. "The spa in Browntown is closed for the season, but I can heat some water for you."

"Yes, please." October replied.

She watched Bam dress and leave the shack. While he was gone, October found her panties and one of Bam's tshirt and quickly put them on. She pulled a box out from the bottom of her bag and stuffed it under the pillow when she returned to the warmth of the bed.

Bam returned moments later with an armload of wood and the tin basin filled with snow. He put it on top of the stove to heat and removed his boots and jacket.  October sat up in bed and arranged the blankets around her bare legs.  She reached her hands out to Bam, beckoning him to join her. Just as he sat down, she reached under the pillow and pulled out a small box wrapped on green paper. She set it in his lap and leaned over to kiss his cheek. "Merry Christmas, Lover."

Bam seemed surprised. He grinned as he turned the box over in his hands. "What is it?" He asked.

October put her hands against his chest.  "I'm not telling, silly. You're supposed to open it!" She giggled.

Bam framed her face in his hands and gave her a deep kiss.  "I thought you were my Christmas present." She sighed.

"You can unwrap me anytime you want." She pushed the gift towards him. "But first you have to open this!" She was excited. She had thought long and hard about choosing the perfect gift for him. She knew he wasn't material but she had found something she thought he would like.

He tore the paper and took the lid off the box. Inside was an ivory pendant on a wrapped cord necklace. "Wow! It's beautiful." He said quietly.

October smiled bashfully. "You really think so?"

"Yes, I really do." He said, taking it out of the box.

"It's called a Hei Matau." She explained. "It's a Maori fish hook. Legend holds that it ensures safe passage over water."

Bam held it up to the light to study the symbols carved into the pendant. "Where did you get it?" He asked, genuinely curious to learn more about it.

"I made it." She said simply.

"Really?" He replied, touched that she would do that for him. She nodded her head.

"I did a wedding dress shoot in Hawaii last year. My surfing instructor had one that was gorgeous. I searched every market but I couldn't find one. When I got back, I decided that I could make one.  It took me a long time to get it just right. Traditionally they are made out of whale bone but this one is cow."
