"Are you ready for this?" Bam asked. He took both of October's hands in his as they stood just inside the door of the trapper shack. His family had given them a brief reprieve in order to put their bags away and catch their breath after travelling. He knew his family was anxious to spend time with him but he also could tell that October needed a moment to herself before they shared their news with everyone. She bit her lip nervously and turned her face up to him, eyes wide. She nodded slightly. Her eyes shone with unshed tears as she leaned against him for support. "Hey, what's with the tears? Baby, what's wrong?" He asked suddenly concerned. October smiled and shook her head. "Nothing. Nothing's wrong. Everything's perfect. I love you."
Bam rested his forehead against hers. He kissed both her eyelids as she took a deep breath. "Okay." She sighed putting her hand on the doorknob. "I'm ready."

October followed Bam inside the main cabin and slowly removed her jacket and boots as he did the same. Her body was mostly shielded by Bam's as he stood in the doorway to the living room. She hid shyly behind Bam as he addressed everyone in the room at once.  "October and I have an announcement to make." He said loudly. All side conversations halted as everyone gave Bam their full attention. His arm went behind his back to clasp October's hand in his.

"I knew it!" shrieked Rainy. "You're getting married!"

Bam looked down as the corners of his mouth turned up into a sly smile. "No, Rainy." He replied simply. "We already did."

A chorus of congratulations erupted in the room, but before anyone could get up from their chair, Bam held his free hand up. "Wait, wait. I'm not done yet." The room quieted again. Out of the corner of his eye he saw Matt give a knowing wink to October behind him. Bam pulled October in front of him to circle his arms around her waist as he rested his chin on her shoulder. "We're having a baby."

Silence filled the room as the shock registered on everyone's faces. October bit her lip again as doubt crowded her mind in the split second of silence. It didn't last long though as cries of joy and more congratulations filled her ears. She was pulled into one embrace and then the next as smiles and hugs were shared between the entire family.

"I knew it!" Matt whispered happily in her ear as he gave her a gentle squeeze. "I told you, he just needed some more time, Toby." October was too happy to even correct him, so she let it slide - just this once. She smiled gently at him as Matt twirled her around. "A baby!" He exclaimed.

October watched Matt as he caught Amber's gaze from across the room. A slight smile spread across Amber's features when Matt mouthed 'I love you' to her. Amber ducked her head to hide her blush and turned her attention back to the conversation she was having with Bam and his sisters.

October raised an eyebrow at Matt. "You'll be next?" she chided gently.

Matt nodded and glanced back over to Amber. "Soon." He replied and then laughed loudly and twirled her around again. "Haha! First baby in Browntown!"

Supper was a loud affair with so much talking and laughing. October's cheeks hurt from smiling so much. Not a terrible problem to have!  After dessert, Bam noticed that October had started to wilt. He went to her and slid his arms around her waist. "Shall I take you to bed, Mrs. Brown?"
October rested her cheek against his chest. "Yes, please." She murmured. "But I'm afraid it will just be to sleep tonight though." Bam's chuckle rumbled low in his chest. "Quite all right, my love."  They bid the family good night and left the main cabin.

Inside the trapper shack Bam fed the fire and lit the kerosene lamp. He quickly shucked his jeans, threw them over the bench and stretched his body across the bed. He watched October undress in the glow of the lamp's flame. When she unfastened her braid and picked up her hairbrush, Bam sat up on the bed and reached for her. "Let me." He said taking the brush from her hand. She sat on the bed cross legged in front of him as he lovingly stroked the tangles from her hair.

"What did you think of tonight?" She asked as he ran the brush down her blonde tresses.
"It was nice." He replied. "Matt said Amber is planning a huge Thanksgiving supper for tomorrow night. Bear is bringing his new girlfriend."
October stilled. "Bear's girl is going to be here?"

"Yes, that's what he told me. Is there something wrong with that?" he asked softly. He had finished brushing her hair and was now massaging her shoulders.

October shrugged. "No. Of course not." She wasn't sure how she should feel about it. Bam had no clue he had met her already.

Bam got off the bed to turn down the lamp. "I'm looking forward to meeting the girl who has put an even wider smile on Bear's face."

October pulled the covers back and crawled underneath them. Bam joined her in bed and wrapped his body around hers. "Yes." she murmured sleepily. "It should be interesting."

Bam placed a kiss on her stomach. "Goodnight, Baby." Then a kiss on her forehead. "Goodnight, Baby."
