I sit in the chair, starting to fill out the paperwork, I had made it to work in time. Actually, five minutes early. I fill out age, birthday, pretty much everything he needed, except one thing, address, because as of now, I don't have one. Hopefully I can find a super cheap apartment soon.
I hand my new boss the finished application and his pen, which he quickly scans over. "You forgot your address." He notes.
"I actually don't have one at the moment." I scratch the back of my neck.
"Oh." He nods. "Well, until you do, I'll have to pay you in cash."
"That's fine." I nod. "Thank you, Mr. Lee."
"No problem. Well, you can get to work." He dismisses me, just as someone walks in the room.
"Daddy, can-" The young girl stops speaking and looks at me. "Oh, I didn't realize you were busy. I'll just come back later."
"No, I was just about to get to work." I shake my head.
"So you're the new guy." She smiles. "I'm Shay, his daughter."
"I'm Chresanto." I shake the hand she had held out.
She turns to her father, and I take that as my cue to leave, Mr. Lee had already explained what I was doing. The only thing he forgot to mention is where the tools are. Seeing no one else in the shop, I decide to wait for Shay and ask her, rather than snooping around.
Once she comes out, I stand from against the wall. "Hey, I was wondering if-" She cuts me off before I can get any further in my sentence.
"I have a boyfriend, sorry."
"I was actually just gonna say I was wondering if you could show me where the tools are, Mr. Lee didn't tell me." I clarify.
"Oh." She blushes. "Sorry."
"It's fine."
I follow her to wherever the tools were. "These are the ones you'll be using. Everyone has their on set, that way more than one car can be worked on at a time." She explains. "Just make sure everything is put away before you leave, it's easier to keep track of everything that way, so it's ready for the next shift."
"Okay, thanks." I nod, getting to work. I had already put on the uniform.
"So, my dad said you work quick. He said you got the car fixed in under an hour yesterday." Shay works on a car that was beside me.
"Yeah, I used to work on cars all the time with my uncle, he's a mechanic." I keep my answer simple.
"Oh, so, what's brought you here?" She quizzes.
"Just needed a job." I shrug.
"Ready to get out of your folks' house, huh?" She asks.
"Something like that." I mumble, continuing to work.
