I want to make an urban story. But I don't know if it should be another Chresanto August story or if it should be August Alsina. Let me know what you guys would read.

-February 1st, 2017-

With the help of Ray, I get the mattress on top of the box spring.

Finally, after months, I bought Melanie and I a bed. And she has no idea.

She's at work right now, and I just got off. The furniture store delivered the bed, Ray helped me put it together.

"Aye, I gotta head out. My baby mama calling me again." He chuckles.

"Tell her I said hey." I laugh.

I know him and his girlfriend, we were all friends.

"Will do." He daps me.

After he leaves, I start on dinner for my baby and our baby.

Amoré can eat simple things, like mashed potatoes. I make sure to make some of those, and then make the rest of dinner.

--

"How was work, Melanie?" I ask, pecking her lips as she comes out from behind the counter. She had just clocked out.

"It was okay, I'm tired." She yawns. She worked two shifts today.

I take Amoré from her, setting her car seat on the counter for a second. Then I pick up Melanie, setting her on my back. Afterwards, I pick up Amoré's car seat and walk home with my girls.

"Did you remember to put more air in our bed?" Melanie asks, yawning again.

"I did. You can go to sleep right after dinner and your shower." I tell her, smiling a bit.

She's in for a surprise when she gets home.

Ever since I got my job, I've been saving up. I finally got us a bed, Amoré an actual crib and I got us a small nightstand, and a new Bible for Melanie, since her old one was filled with notes and kind of worn out. I got her a new one, with plenty of space for more notes. I got a case for it too.

"Are you going to sleep, Mel?" I ask.

"Maybe." She lays her head on my shoulder.

"Wait til we get home, mama. I don't want to drop you." I tell her.

She tightens her arms and legs around me, talking to me as we walk.

After dinner, she finally goes to the bedroom. "Oh my gosh, Chres."

I wrap my arms around her waist, kissing her head. "Do you like it?"

"I love it." She nods, fanning her eyes.

"I wanted to give you and the baby something. You deserve to be sleeping in a nice, comfy bed." I smile.

"Can we go lay down?" She asks.

"Of course." I nod, keeping my arms around her waist as we walk into our room.

Amoré had fallen asleep at the dinner table, and after Mel cleaned her up, I brought her in here and put her in the crib.

"I know it isn't huge, but-"

"It's perfect, Chres." She cuts me off.

Quickly, I go to the bathroom and put my sweatpants on. She puts on my shirt with her shorts after taking a quick, ten minute shower. She showered this morning, she just doesn't like sleeping with sweat on her.

I get comfortable in bed and, as she does every night, she lays beside me, wrapping her leg around my waist, putting her arm around my stomach. She lays her head on my chest, and I wrap my arms all the way around her, keeping her close to me.
