"Chres?" Melanie asks.

"Yeah?"

"We need more formula." She tells me quietly. I've kind of kept myself away from the kids and everything, while I build up a case, one to prove we didn't do anything wrong, and two, so that we can take away visitation rights from his grandparents, since they wanna pull something dumb like that.

"You need the keys?" I ask.

"No, can you drive us?" She asks me.

"Babe, I'm trying to get stuff together for court." I remind her.

"I know. But you've been locked up for a couple days, and the kids miss you." She frowns. "I miss you."

"And so I'm supposed to not care if we lose Camden?" I ask.

"No. That's not what I'm saying. I'm saying, we have three other kids, Chres. If you would just let me help you build the case, we could work together and still have time with them." She says.

"I don't need help. I can do this on my own." I roll my eyes.

"So when are you gonna take Amoré on that date you were talking about? When are you gonna start helping with the kids again? I want him back just as bad as you, but we can't ignore our other three kids all day everyday until we get him back."

"You just don't understand, bro." I shake my head.

"How do I not understand?"

"He's not even your son!" I turn around to look at her. "He is my son, I refuse to believe he's my father's, so I have to get him back!"

The look on her face showed hurt and sadness. "Ouch." She slowly turns around, looking down as she walks out.

"Mel-"

She closes the door.

I go to walk out after her, but she's already taking the kids to the car, one carseat in each hand. I take one from her, "I'll go with you."

"It's okay." She shakes her head, trying to get it back.

"Melanie, I'm sorry. I'm upset about the whole thing, but I shouldn't take it out on you. You're my wife and the mother of my four children, you're only trying to help, I can't close you guys out."

She looks at me, and I can already tell she's crying.

I set the car seat down to pull her into a hug. "I love you." I kiss her forehead. "And I'm sorry."

"Don't ever say that to me again." She sniffles.

"I won't, baby. I'm sorry." I rub her back. "I didn't mean what I said. You're an amazing mother, to all four of our children."

I really didn't mean it. I shouldn't have even said it. I can't imagine how I would feel if she said that to me about Amoré. That little girl is my world.

"Thanks." She smiles a little.

"There it is." I kiss her nose.

We head to the store to get some things, and end up staying a bit longer than we planned.
