One thousand reads already? Thank you guys so much!!
Sorry for the wait. I've been super busy with school.
I'm going to start adding a date at the beginning because it's easier to keep track of everything like that.
Also, I lost my notebook, which literally had this whole book in it. It was gone for about a month, but I found it last night, so expect updates real soon.

"Melanie, I have to go." I try to get up.
"No." She whines, tightening her arms around me.
"I'll be back soon." I promise.
"Just let me go with you."
"You can't." I tell her.
"Please? I can just wait for you, somewhere that's not in your way."
"Melanie, I'll be back soon."
"I'm going with you." She states. "I can find a way to make myself busy and stay out the way, I promise."
"You better not get me in trouble." I roll my eyes, giving in.
"Yay! Thank you." She hugs me. "I'll get us ready." She picks up her daughter.
"Hurry, we have to leave soon." I put together a few peanut butter sandwiches.
Melanie gets herself and the baby ready within five minutes. "Here." I hand her one of the sandwiches.
"Thanks." She smiles, taking it.
We walk to the place I work, Lee's Auto. "So, do you go to church?" Mel asks me.
"I did when I was little, but I don't any more." I answer.
"Why not?" Melanie questions, truly curious.
"I don't know, I never thought about going. I haven't since I was ten."
"I go every Sunday, you should go with me." She suggests.
"Maybe." I shrugs.
Melanie smiles to herself, shrugging her shoulders like I did. "Maybe."
I chuckle, nudging her gently with my elbow.

On my lunch break, Melanie and I walk a block down and get a couple burgers, they were pretty cheap, only a dollar. "So you mean to tell me that you've met Chris Brown?" Melanie asks, shocked.
"One time, my friend was a huge fan of his, and we ended up meeting him." I shrug.
"Huh." She sighs.
"So, what about you?" I take another bite of my burger.
"I've never even been to a concert." She laughs.
"Really?" I ask.
"Really." She nods. "By the time I had permission to go to one, this little baby came along and now I'm a mommy." She looks down at her daughter, was sleeping peacefully beside her in the booth.
"So, what's up with her dad?"
"Ugh, don't remind me." She rolls her eyes, taking another bite. "He's no good, told me he loves me, I believed him and once he gets what he wants, he's gone. The usual, cliche story, yet I still fell for it."
"Some people are just really convincing." I frown.
"Eh, I love my baby, and that's all that matters to me. My daughter."
