Annabeth was was running late. Just the fact that she woke up with the sun shining in her face instead of the sound of her unpleasant alarm. She tugged on her heels quickly and grabbed a dark green blouse and her usual black skirt. Annabeth barely remembered to grab her cell phone and makeup bag before running out of the apartment.

"Athena's Architecture, please." She breathlessly stated to the cab driver.

Annabeth patted herself on the back when she entered the building, getting there in record time... Despite the fact that she was an hour late. "Hi, Ms. Chase, running late?"

She grabbed a pen and signed in with a breathless smile. "You have no idea, see you later Sam!" Fast walking to the elevator she clicked the top button.

"Hold on! Hold the elevator!" A man exclaimed. Annabeth was tempted to let it close, but she had a heart, and held it open. A man ran in and was taking deep breaths. "Sorry about that. Uh, thanks. By the way." Annabeth was confident she'd seen him before, around. He had raven black, messy hair, and bright green eyes.

"It's alright. I'm late too." Annabeth smiled and he chuckled.

"Woke up a little late, huh?"

"A complete hour." She sighed.

The guy laughed, "Me too. I completely flipped out. Good thing is that I live a couple blocks away." She laughed and suddenly went quiet for a long time. Annabeth was about to say something when the elevator suddenly shook. It shook so violently that Annabeth fell and grabbed onto the railing. It faltered and dulled away.

"What the heck." The guy breathed. Annabeth gulped and stood up shakily. "What was that?!"

"An earthquake. I think." She whispered. She felt that if she moved the elevator would fall.

They couple stayed still before Percy pressed the red button. It beeped and Annabeth exhaled. "Help should be on its way?"

"Good." He carefully sat down on the floor, next to his briefcase. "Well, I read that it takes an hour for someone to help people stuck in elevators."

Annabeth laughed nervously, "Now where did you see that?"

He grinned, "Buzzfeed." Annabeth chuckled and sat down next to him. "I'm Percy, by the way."

"Annabeth." They shook hands.

"Don't mind me, but I'm visiting family who works here, I always visit. I'm actually a high school teacher. And," he drawled out the word as he took out a stack of papers, "these essays have to be turned in tomorrow."

Annabeth raised a perfect brow, "Oh, really? Who do you visit?"

"Thalia and Nico."

Annabeth smiled. "Thalia and Nico are both some of my best friends."

Percy laughed. "Small world. I was wondering why you looked familiar. I think I've seen you in a picture or two."

"I'll let you correct papers now, so don't mind me." Annabeth said, taking her phone out. Surprisingly she still had a wifi connection, and spent a while going through emails and social media.

Percy groaned suddenly. "I'm bored, correcting papers is getting boring." He complained.

Annabeth laughed. "It's only been half an hour, Percy." The elevator creaked. Both of them got up and suddenly the elevator started shaking slowly, then it trembled more. The elevator suddenly dropped. The force pushed them up and Annabeth screamed as her back was slammed against the ceiling. Papers were flying everywhere as Percy's grip on the railing slacked and his body crashed against hers. He yelled and gripped her wrist. Annabeth held onto his jacket and in a blink of an eyes she felt cold. It took her two seconds to realize they weren't even in the elevator anymore, no, the elevator was underneath them. It looked like... everything was caving in and collapsing.
