15 - An Opportunity

It's been two whole weeks since Livi and I moved on with our lives and ended things with Alfie and Joe. It was strange at first, obviously, but I think finally we have patched up the holes in our lives and things are definitely back to normal. We have kept in contact with Brad, James and Tristan and we skype about twice a week as well as sending each other emails. We know that they have a busy life so we weren't expecting daily chats with them but I'm so happy that they havent forgot about us.

The day after we got back from Santa Monica we went back to our jobs at the local shopping mall and a few days after that our dance classes started back up again. I hadn't really noticed before but after having 2 weeks of just chilling at the beach and not having to worry about anything, I forgot how busy our lives actually are. We have work every day apart from on the weekends and we work from 10 till 5 and then we have dance class every single day from 6 till 8.

Today is Saturday and as we have the day off me and Livi are spending the day together. As the weekend is pretty much the only time we spend together where we get to do whatever we want we decided that on Saturdays we will go out and do something like go to the movies, go shopping or go bowling, stuff like that. And then on Sundays we would spend the day in the apartment and watch some movies, play games, eat lots of junk food and basically just chill out.

"You ready to go?" Livi asked as she walked into my bedroom.

"Yep lets go" I replied as took my phone off the docking station and grabbed my car keys off the bedside cabnit.

We walked out of the aparment, down the two flights of stairs and out towards my car. I opened the car door and jumped into the drivers seat and Livi got in the other side.

"So where do you want to go?" I asked.

"Well we could go to the leisure complex and go bowling and then go out for some lunch" Livi suggested.

"Yeah okay, then we could go back after lunch and play lazer tag."

"Yeah lets do that" Livi replied jumping up and down in her seat.

It only took about 15 minutes to get there but it looked really busy. We pulled into the parking lot which was full of cars but luckily we found a space. As we were walking towards the building I spotted something out of the corner of my eye.

"Livi isn't that Alfie's car?" I asked.

"Oh god yeah it is."

"What's he doing here I thought he worked on Saturdays?"

"Oh well after I publicly humiliated him he cant stand to be around me so he quit his old job and he's now working here but now at least I don't have to see him every day of the week."

"Oh are you sure your okay coming here today then?"

"Katie its fine, I've moved on and I'm not going to let that dick stop me from coming here."

We walked into the complex and headed towards the bowling alley. Luckily there was a lane free so we paid for two games and then exchanged our shoes for some bowling shoes.

"Livi it's your turn."

"Okay one second" she shouted back.

We had now been at the bowling alley for about an hour and we're half way through the second game. We hadn't yet seen Alfie which I was quite glad about because I am so mad at him and I haven't seen him at all since we got back from Santa Monica so I really wanted to give him a piece of my mind.

"I'm back" Livi shouted snapping me out of my thoughts.

"Who was that on the phone?"

"Oh it was Gemma she wants us to make sure we arrive early tonight and to make sure we do our best because there are people coming from the LA dance academy, the NYC academy and from a dance academy in London."

Gemma is our dance instructor but she has also become a really good friend of ours as she is only 22. She knows me and Livi really want to go to a dance academy in London so she has done all she can to help us.

"Oh my god someone's coming from London" I screamed.

"Yeah and Gemma said that they are looking to give people scholarships so if we are chosen then we don't have to pay for the classes we only have to pay for accommodation."

"Seriously?"

"Yeah seriously!"

"Can you imagine if we got the scholarships, we would be able to afford an apartment instead of staying on campus."

"This is so exciting" Livi screamed and we both started jumping up and down which made pretty much every person turn and look at us.

We finished our game of bowling and then went to the cheese cake factory for lunch. Once we had finished our meal it was around 2pm so we headed back to the complex to play lazer tag. This is mine and Livi's favourite thing to do together and I am so bad at it so Livi always wins but I don't care because its just so much fun.

"Livi where are you?" I asked as I walked around the huge maze "Livi it's not funny anymore where are y..."

I was cut of by a loud scream coming from right behind me, I quickly turned round and started running towards where it came from.

"Livi was that you?" I asked as I backed up against one of the walls and just as I was about to look round the corner someone jumped out in front of me. I screamed and tucked down in a ball on the floor but I could hear that Livi had burst out laughing so I stood back up again.

"Livi you scared the shit out of me" I shouted as I punched her arm.

"Sorry" she laughed "but it was quite funny."

"No it was not."

It's now 5:30 and we are just about to leave to go to our dance class. As soon as we got home earlier at around 4 we straight away got changed into our dance kit because we are so excited. We know that today we have to do the best we can because getting these scholarships could change our lives completely.

The studio was only about a 10 minute drive so we were 20 minutes early but Gemma was already there so it didn't matter. We talked to her for a bit but as we saw some people come through the door we began to warm up. I was guessing that the three people were obviously from the dance academies in LA, NYC and London. It made me really nervous as I realised that I had 2 hours to impress them but I always mess up when people are watching.

The past 2 hours were the most stressful and nerve racking 2 hours of my entire life. As I danced I could sense the three ladies watching my every move. Luckily I didn't mess up at all and neither did Livi but she never makes any mistakes so today wasn't going to be an exception.

"Well first I'd like to say well done to all of you because you all showed such skill and passion in your dancing" one of the ladies said "I on behalf of the academy of LA have chosen 1 person who I would like to award a scholarship too."

"Yes you all are truly amazing dancers and the NYC dance academy would be honoured to have any one of you" the second said "but I only have 2 scholarships which I can award and I have also chosen who shall be receiving them."

When the final one spoke I started to get nervous "Well firstly I am honoured that I was invited over to the states because I believe that LDA would be so grateful if any one of you decided to join us. unfortunately I can only award 1 scholarship and I have chosen who shall be receiving it." my heart sank as soon as she said this.

"All the information will be sent in the mail to those of you luckily enough to be awarded a scholarship and you should get it in about a week but anyways I'll see you all back here tomorrow."

Everyone started gathering up their things and leaving the studio but I couldn't move. LDA was only supplying 1 scholarship, that meant both me and Livi cant get scholarships and neither of us can afford to pay for the academy as well as accommodation. My dreams of going to LDA with Livi were shattered and just as I thought something good was about to happen in my life.
