Chapter Sixty-Seven: We've been quite a pain in the ass.

I submitted my application for Debate Club's Vice President and today, it was my time for interview. After everything that happened for the past month, I was surprised how I still remembered preparing for my application.

I was staying in a separate room while another applicant was doing the presentation and interviews. The time slot I reserved was an hour later, but here I was already nervous, practicing again and again my lines for the presentation.

"Here are the three reasons why you should select me as the next Vice President for External Affairs. First, I believe in exposing our organization not only within the school premises but outside our university. We can start baby steps, like within the city, to within the state, to within the country. We can do that by hosing debate conference together with competitions in between." I tried my best to strike a professional pose, with matching genuine smile and political campaign voice. Because we're not only presenting and interviewing, but we're being recorded for other members whom will vote.

"Because with Jessamine Han as VP, I promise that we'll give our one Han-dred percent. We plant, we bloom, we grow a tree. Number three, Han, Jessamine."

My hands were shaking due to the nervousness and coldness. I wanted to make sure everything go as planned, but sometimes my anxiety would hit me and everything I prepared would seem like a sham.

"Jessamine Han, you can do this. You survived coming here alone. You survived not having enough money. You survived being drugged. You survived from a toxic relationship. You survived from an almost near death situation." I continuously talked to myself until I ran out of time for practice because the moderator knocked on my door and told me to enter.

"Ms. Han? You're up."

My feet turned heavy, probably from all of the anxiety I was carrying inside me. It's like my weight had doubled.

With a fake politician poise, I entered the room and scanned the faces of the 5 judges. In the middle was the president, beside her were the two executive vice presidents (and one of them was asshole Caleb), the one at the end was the recorder of the video, while the one on the other end was the one who's going to write the minutes of the presentation.

"Hi debate champion!" Our president, Prima gave a supportive but unbiased smile. "We're excited to listen to your platform. Good luck!"

"Thanks." I beamed, trying my best not to look at Caleb. "Good morning..."

It felt as if I was conversing with a friend about my plans for the organization, which was a good thing since the nervousness I felt a while ago disappeared, and talking seemed natural. Never did I make an eye contact with Caleb, since I usually just slide my eyes quickly to skip looking at his smug face.

After I finished my presentation, I gave a smile and said my pun-ny One Han-dred percent line.

The four of them laughed and applauded at me, even the one holding the recorder. I could feel Caleb not laughing, but I wasn't sure either since I really didn't want to look at him.

"One Han-dred percent, huh? I believe in you. I like your platforms for the organization." Prima leaned forward, placing both her hands on the table. "Now we're proceeding to the Q&A section."

They proceeded to ask me different questions, how do I manage to juggle everything, how will I make sure my platforms work, and the like.

When it came to Caleb, he suddenly threw me off with a question that made me want to punch him so hard in the gut. "How do you deal with people that played you?"
