Chapter 14

That weekend...Saturday to be exact...

Clark texted me this morning to tell me that he'll be at the library for one o'clock. I glance at my clock and see that it's twelve fifteen already. I get my things that I need for the day together and dash down the stairs. In a slightly over dramatic voice, I shout "It's life or death if we don't leave in the next few minutes."My mother rolls her eyes playfully at me and motions for me to get in the car. I have to wait about five minutes for her to complete her daily ritual of cleaning the car in a haste before we actually head to the library. With each passing minute, I can feel both my excitement and nerves increasing rapidly. By the time I actually get to the library, I'm an ocean of sweat, literally. My mother hugs me goodbye and I make my way into the library. Surprisingly when I get inside, Clark is sitting at a table waiting for me.

I smile to myself, seeing that Clark likes to be punctual just as I do. I clear my throat to get his attention, which works successfully almost every time. His head shoots right up and his eyes meet mine. My heart then begins its ritual of racing whenever I'm around Clark. He gets up and wraps an arm around me. "Hey Myra. How's it going?" He smiles adorably at me, patiently awaiting my response. "I'm great Clark! How are you?" "I'm good, thanks for asking." We make some small talk before deciding to go on the computers, sitting side by side, playing a multiplayer game on Kogama that both of us happen to love. Kogama is a super cool site with a lot of Minecraft like games. While we play games on there, we talk about everything from why our favorite games are our favorite games to our hopes and dreams. Conversations with Clark can go from simple to deep super fast.

Three hours later...

Clark and I are in the teen section pondering the decision of what books to check out. Clark chuckles at my selections and I raise an eyebrow at him. "What's so funny Clark?" He shakes his head with a smile. "I never pegged you as a fan of Nicholas Sparks' books. I'll admit that he's a decent writer, but he sure sets unrealistic relationship expectations, especially for girls." I playfully huff. "Just because I read books by Nicholas Sparks doesn't mean that I allow my mind to be corrupted by silly movie like relationships and relationship goals." He puts a hand on my shoulder. "Well I'm glad to hear that. Speaking of relationships, I have a question for you. Are you currently dating anyone?" I'm truly shocked by his question. I definitely didn't see it coming. "I-I'm not seeing anyone. A-are you?" He looks at me with an equal amount of shock. "N-no I'm not." I feel a slight trace of confidence work its way into my system. "Do you want to see anyone?" A gentle smile appears on his face. "Perhaps eventually. What about you?" I return both his gentle smile and answer, "Perhaps eventually."

Clark and I spend a couple more hours at the library before the library closes for the night. We linger in the entrance/exit for a few moments before hugging and parting ways. As usual., we make a promise to text later. My mother pulls up first before Clark's mother does the same for him. As I ride home, I think about the events and conversations with Clark today. I also think about the hug we just shared. I'm truly on cloud nine right now.
