Chapter 43
The next morning...
Derek and I decide to keep our relationship on the down low for the week since we've been the primary discussion for days now. In other words, we want to get the focus off of us a bit before we make our relationship public. Becky promised us that she wouldn't spill it to anyone and we trust her not to do so. We get to our lockers early, hang out by them for a few minutes, and get to first period on time. As the three of us sit down, hardly anyone stares and/or whispers about us. It's a nice change of pace. We can actually relax and go about our day in peace, well for the most part anyway.
At lunch...
Just when I though we were safe for the day, Brittany comes over to our table, though she lacks her minions. What a pure shock. I guess she's feeling extra confident today. I roll my eyes at her. "What do you want queen bitch?" She makes a sound of disgust. "Oh nothing... well nothing other than I know your secret." I raise an eyebrow skeptically at her. "What secret?" Brittany leans forward, sticking her giant breasts on the table. "Don't play dumb with me Myra. I'm smarter than you think I am. I know you and Derek are dating." I try my best to keep my cool by appearing calm and collected. "Maybe we are, maybe we aren't. Believe what you want to believe." I leave Brittany shell shocked. She opens her mouth as if she's going to give me a mouthy response but second guesses it for once. Derek smirks at her until she willingly storms off. Under the table, we all high five one another. Yay, another victory for us!
After school...
I take the bus home because I'm absolutely swamped with homework tonight. I also have two quizzes tomorrow. One quiz is in English and the other is in Music... theory. I hate Music theory so much. I really don't want to fail this quiz tomorrow. I've already failed the last two. Failing a third Music theory will send me over the edge. My breakdowns aren't a very pretty sight to look at. Plus I don't want Derek to witness me having one. Now that him and I are dating, I want to prove to him that I'm both mentally stable and worth his time.
That night...
It took me six hours to get all of my homework and studying done. I only stopped for ten minutes to have a quick snack before going back to work. I'm absolutely exhausted. In a zombie like fashion, I make my way to the bathroom to brush my teeth and floss. From there, I throw myself into bed, thankful that today is over and dreading the morning that is approaching fast.
