Chapter 37
In the morning...
I meet Becky and Derek by the front doors. I'm so nervous right now. My arms and legs are shaking like crazy. Both Becky and Derek pull me in for a comforting hug before we face the uncertain fate of today. Today's probably going to be hell. I'd much rather just be at home but NO. I really hope that the whole school doesn't find out about Clark and I's breakup. I don't need anymore on my plate right now.
With a deep breath, I enter the school with my best friends. As soon as we do, all eyes are on us. Shit... Along with the stares from people come many harsh whispers. I avoid eye contact with everyone besides Becky and Derek. We're three quarters of the way to our lockers when we come to a complete halt. Becky silently mouths "Clark" to me. I glance at Derek who's having the ultimate death glare contest with him. I avoid eye contact with Clark at all costs. I don't trust myself in my current state to even look at him. Instead, I silently watch Clark and Derek duke it out, though my eyes and mind are mostly on Derek who's trying to beat the crap out of him. When that happens, I push him back and kick Clark in the balls. He doubles over in pain and I smirk down at him briefly. That's what you get asshole.
Derek's side is sore so I wrap one of his arms around me. We slowly make the rest of the way to our lockers. "Derek, will you be okay?" He nods. "I'll be fine Myra. Like I said last night, I wanted to help you seek justice for what that asshole did to you. I don't regret my actions in the slightest." I hug lightly, careful not hurt him further. "I love you Derek." He looks at me in complete shock before saying it back. Becky then steps forward and we have a short group hug before we head to class and try to survive our day from hell. Spoiler alert: It turns out to be a day from hell.
