Chapter 27

Two weeks later...

Becky's finally back from her vacation to Cape Cod, which lasted a little longer than expected. I'm so happy she's home. As much as I love spending time with Clark and/or Derek, it's nice to have some girl time too. Becky's coming over in a bit to hang out. We basically just plan on binge watching Gilmore Girls on Netflix and eat to our heart's content. It's basically every girl's dream day off.

  An hour later...

A loud knock at the door snaps me out of my thoughts and I rush to answer the door. When I open it, Becky jumps into my arms. Thankfully, I'm strong enough to catch both her and my balance, saving us from falling onto the floor. "I take it you're glad to see me Becky." Nodding sheepishly. "I've missed you Myra." I give her a gentle hug. "I've missed you too Becky. Now before we start our Gilmore Girls marathon, tell me all about your trip." We sit down on the sofa and she describes her trip in full detail, taking nearly an hour to say everything that happened. I'm both happy for her and a little sad. I feel like everyone's going on nice vacation trips except for me. Don't get me wrong, I'm grateful for being able to do as much as I do, but I haven't been away in years. I'm ready for a vacation. I can tell my parents are too, it's just a money issue. Hopefully we'll come into some money before summer vacation ends next month and we can take a short trip.

Not wanting to cause any drama, I shove down my feelings and load Netflix so we can watch Gilmore Girls for awhile. What's nice about binge watching Netflix is that we're so focused on what we're watching, it's very unlikely that either one of us will grill one another with deep, personal questions. I was going to tell her about my recent dates with Clark, but now I'm finding myself wanting to keep it private. I'm so damn bipolar.

 Four hours later...

We decide to take a break from our Gilmore Girls marathon to go down to the corner store and buy a pizza. They have amazing pizza. We wait a few minutes for it and then bring it back to my house, eating it out on the front porch. "Myra, how are you and Clark doing?" My heart begins to race at her question. "We're doing good. How are you and your boyfriend doing?" She gives me a similar answer. I stare off into space for a few minutes and I notice Becky studying me carefully. "What's wrong Myra? I can tell something's troubling you so please don't lie to me and say you're fine because I know you aren't." I sigh. "I'm just jealous of everyone getting to travel this summer. My parents don't think that we'll be able to take a trip this summer. It sucks not having a lot of money." Becky puts her pizza down and pulls me in for a hug. "I'm sure things will work Myra. Just give it time. If worse comes to worse, you can tag along with my family for our trip to Maine next month." I nod and give her a small smile, silently thanking her for being so understanding.
