Chapter 15
That night...
I'm just lying in bed with my laptop updating one of my fanfics when my phone rings loudly. By the way, my ringtone is "Live While We're Young" by One Direction. I look at the caller ID and squeal when I see that it's Clark. I press talk and put the phone to my ear. "Clark, I had a great time today." "I had a great time too Myra. I'm sorry to bother you. I know it's getting late." "It's fine Clark. I'm a night owl on the weekend so I'm up late anyway." "Well I'll keep my call short and sweet. There was something I forgot to tell you today. Though, I want to tell you in person so I'll tell you first thing Monday morning. I'll meet you by your locker." "Sounds good. It's nothing bad right?" "No, no, no of course not! I'll see you Monday morning, okay?" "See you Monday morning." "Good night Myra." "Good night Clark." I hang up the phone and get up to brush my teeth and floss. After that, I lie down in bed and enter the realm of dreams.
Early Monday morning...
A promised, Clark is standing by my locker. He seems happy to see me but also nervous because he's pacing back and forth. "Hey Clark. What did you want to talk to me about?" Clark's hands begin to shake so I take them in mine, caressing them gently in an attempt to relax him. "Whatever it is, I'm not going to get mad at you." He sighs and takes a deep breath. "I'mnervousbecauseI'mreallystartingtolikeyou." I laugh a little. "Slow down Clark, I can't understand you. Can you say that again, but slower this time?" Clark looks me in the eyes and slowly repeats "I'm nervous because I'm really starting to like you." The most effortless smile appears on my face. "Well that puts me at ease." He gives me a look of confusion. "What do you mean?" I take a step closer to him and put his hands around my waist. "It means that I like you too Clark."
We gaze at one another for a few minutes, his arms still wrapped around my waist as he breaks the silence. "So where do we go from here Myra?" I bite my lip. "I'm fine with whatever you want to do. Though personally, I think we should be friends a little longer before we get too serious." He nods his head in agreement. "Then we'll be friends a little longer. It's better to take things slow rather than rush them." I give Clark a sympathetic simple. "Are you sure you're okay with that Clark? I don't want you to feel as though I'm leading you on." Clark gently cups my chin with two fingers. "I'm absolutely sure Myra. Anyways I have to get to my locker to put my crap away and get my books for the morning. I'll see you in Spanish later." I jump into his arms, which throws him off guard. With a throaty chuckle. he returns the strong hug and we part ways for a few hours.
When I get to my first class, I sit down in between Becky and Derek. They talk to me about their weekend. I try my best to focus on what they're saying and absorb as much as possible, but very little actually stays in my mind because let's face it, I'm a lovesick puppy wrapped around Clark's fingertip.
