Chapter 25
The next day...
As usual, I wake up and do some summer reading before I go out for the afternoon with my parents. We decide to take a drive down to the lake to relax for awhile with prepared sandwiches in tow. It's a nice way to spend quality time with one another while getting out of the house at the same time. I'm a person who likes to be on the go and keep myself busy. I vow that no matter how old I get, I will never be a couch potato. My parents talk amongst themselves for awhile while I take a stroll around the lake, soaking in the lake breeze given how hot and humid it's been lately. I love summer, but I don't enjoy the brutal heat. Anything above eighty degrees is too much for me.
A couple hours later...
We take a drive to Dairy Queen in the next town over for ice cream. I'm craving a cherry Dilly bar. In case you don't know what a Dilly bar is, it's an ice cream bar with a hard flavored topping filled with vanilla ice cream. They come in cherry, chocolate, butterscotch, and possibly orange. Of curse I chose cherry. I'm a cherry fanatic. By the way, the Dilly bar is delicious.
That evening...
Derek texted me spur of the moment to ask me if I wanted to come over and swim in his pool. I pleaded with my parents for ten minutes before they caved, took me home to grab my pool gear, and drove me to Derek's.
At the pool...
Derek and I are having a blast swimming around in his pool. It's definitely cooling me off. Plus, I love hanging out with Derek. Every girl should have at least one guy friend that's not your boyfriend. It's also nice to have a guy perspective on certain matters that are uncomfortable to discuss with you boyfriend.
Two hours later...
Derek and I get out of the pool, take turns showering in his shower, and order a pizza for supper. After supper, I'll sadly have to go home. WAH (That's my weeping sound).
Twenty minutes later...
Our pizza arrives and we pig out on it. We each eat half as we talk about what we've done since we last saw each other. Though as I mention my day with Clark yesterday, a slight frown forms on his face before he covers it up with a forced smile. Weird...so I change the subject and Derek's back to his jolly old self.
An hour later...
My parents pick me up and bring me back home. I'm pretty sure you know by now my usual night routine.
