Ever since you had found out Peter's little 'secret' you seemed to bump into him everywhere. Seeing Spiderman swing past you was now a regular and you were now used to quick hellos and cute little waves he gave you as he passed by.
You, Peter and Ned were now spending a lot more time together. You were helping Peter keep up with his school work which caused you to spend late nights in his room, checking through his rushed essays and scribbled lab reports. Not that you minded.
It was now one of those nights. You were laying on your stomach on Peter's bedroom floor, correcting spelling mistakes and grammar errors in his Spanish essay. The boy himself was sitting at his desk mixing differant chemicals to make his web fluid.
"Peter," you said slowly, peering closely at the piece of paper before you. Something was scribbled in extremely messy hand writing in the margin of the paper but it was almost impossible to read. It almost looked like ... but it couldn't be.
"Yes?" Peter asked, looking around at you. You pointed to the word.
"What does that say?"
Peter leaned over, squinting at the word. Suddenly his eyes widened and his cheeks flushed red. He turned back to his own work, dropping his head. You looked at him curiously, tilting your head slightly to the side.
"What does it say?"
Peter shook his head, his eyes still downcast. "Nothing," he mumbled. "Just a reminder."
"About what?" you pressed. You didn't want to be nosey but Peter was acting very strange and you wanted to find out why.
"To tell you something."
You blinked in surprise. "Me?"
Peter nodded.
You raised an eyebrow. "So what did you need to tell me?"
Peter looked uncomfortable, refusing to meet your gaze.
"Uh," he started slowly. "I, um, I forgot."
Your eyebrows knitted together as your eyes narrowed.
"First of all, Peter, you are not a very good liar. And second, even if you had forgotten what you wanted to say, you write yourself a reminder. You've got a very good memory and I don't think that you can just forget something like that."
Peter sighed loudly and ran a hand over his face. Pulling himself to his feet, he looker down at you with desperate eyes.
"Fine," he started. "But if I tell you, you have to promise not to laugh."
You shook your head, frowning. "I would never laugh at you, Peter."
Peter didn't meet your eyes. Instead, he looked down at the the floor and mumbled quietly, "I like you."
You stared at him in astonishment before a small smile began to grow on your face.
Peter took one glance at your expression before a blush tinted his cheeks and he completely turned his back on you.
"See," he muttered, his voice soft and slightly muffled. "You're laughing at me."
Climbing to your feet, you took a few steps forward until you were directly behind Peter. Reaching out, you gently took hold of his hand. You could see his shoulder muscles tense immediatly as soon as your skin touched his. Slowly, he turned around, his brown eyes capturing your gaze.
"Why didn't you tell me?" you asked quietly, your eyes never leaving Peter's.
"I didn't want it to ruin our friendship. Since I told you that I'm Spiderman, everything has been amazing. I've liked you for ages but I thought that telling you that would make me feel awkward around me and I didn't want that."
The happy smile was still on your face as you stared at Peter with soft eyes. Shaking your head, you let out a small giggle.
"I like you too."
Peter's whole body froze. He stood stock still as he stared at you, studying your face for any sign that you were joking. However, when you refused to give him one, he stepped backwards, and looked away.
"You're not serious," he mumbled. You raised an eyebrow and placed your hands on his shoulders.
"Peter," you said in a very stern voice. "I'm about as serious as anyone can get. I like you, I have for a while and you have no idea how it makes me feel to know you feel the same."
Peter just shook his head, looking completely stunned.
"I - you - but then ... a-are you sure you're not joking?"
You rolled your eyes, sighing dramatically. Reaching forward, you grabbed a fistful of Peter's t-shirt and pulled him closer to you. Leaning your head forward, you mumbled, "You're such a dork," before kissing Peter full in the mouth.
When the pair of you finally pulled apart, you wrapped your arms around Peter's neck and leaned your head on his shoulder. "Am I really joking?" you whispered as his arms encircled your waist, holding you tightly.
"No," said Peter quietly and you smiled to yourself, closing your eyes.
A cute little ending to one of my favourite series.
