So I went to the theatres last night, and I've just finished watching this film. Yes, I took the initiative and used my scene points to treat myself to watch this movie and now that I have, I just have to say, it was absolutely amazing!
I'm not going to go into spoilers, but just for a little bit of a plot--Ash meets Pikachu in this one, making the beginning of the film reminiscent to the opening of the series. Then some time during their journey, they catch a glimpse of Ho-oh, a legendary Pokemon, and while it flies through the sky, one of its feathers falls off and lands in Ash's palm. Along the way, Ash meets his new friends and they share quite a few adventures together before finally finding out what the rainbow feather in Ash's possession signifies: he is the new rainbow hero, chosen by Ho-oh to head upon a mountain and summon him once more to bring hope for all Pokemon in the wild.
Despite all the bad reviews I've been reading for changing the original story's plot and practically mashing all the development from all the Pokemon stories and legacies aired on TV, I thought it was amazing. I mean, certainly there were things that were off, but there were so many great things I could take away from this film--great lessons that I'm sure anyone could learn. Love and passion for something and someone could help them grow stronger. No one can do anything alone. And all of our paths in life are filled with hope and bright colours.
There were so many emotional moments that made me want to cry, and some moments that made me laugh. And it's great to share all that with an almost-full auditorium--yeah, the event was very popular!
I'm not sure what would happen with the film now, but I highly encourage everyone to watch it at some point. It's just incredible on so many levels--maybe not completely reliant on telling the full story, but still a story that one would never stop smiling about. As it was the case for me. :)
