"I need three stamina potion, three greater healing potions, and five greater magic potions." A customer in silk magician clothing requested.
"Certainly." I gathered the potions that he asked for and gave them to him.
The cost was one gold coin and twenty silver coins. Once he paid for the potions, he ran off to join his fellow adventurer friends that were waiting for him.
This was the fifth customer that was here to buy potions. They were all adventurers and they needed potions in order to last longer in a battle, dungeon or anything else that adventurers get themselves in.
This was one of the reasons why I didn't want to be an adventurer. They always going into danger for money when they could just help build houses or something that won't eat them alive.
I might never understand how heroes and adventurers can just go into battle with a smile on their face. I don't have the stomach to kill people or go into wars.
While I was in my deep thoughts, another customer came in with a old looking book. It was made of leather and it was slightly torn or burn.
He placed it in front of me revealing a gold plated metal gear on the cover. Judging from the metal gear, it must be a metal working book.
I met a dwarf once when I was practicing some metal working so this book might be of some use. But first, I need to see what it is.
I used [Analyze] on it and found out something interesting.
It's called the Tinkerers Codex. This was the fourth volume out of five so there were four other volumes out there.
What made this so interesting was that when I took a look inside, I wasn't able to figure out the language and there were weird but familiar drawings on them too.
"So, how much do you think it can sell for?" The customer asked me.
"You're selling it? This would be more useful in a museum or in the hands of a scholar."
"Yeah, well I wanted to just sell it. You can do all that kind of work if you bought it."
It's true that giving it to someone like a scholar would be useful but I was kind of intrigued by the book. Not only that but there were four of volumes so I might want to collect them if I get the chance.
When I analyzed the book, I found out that the cost was in question marks. That never happened before.
I'm guessing that this was priceless which means that this thing was ancient and valuable. I wanted to buy it but I couldn't tell what the exact cost would be.
Let's see, the oldest and valuable item in this world cost around twenty to thirty thousand gold. I'll just double that amount while adding something else.
"This book is around seventy thousand gold coins," I told the customer.
It was a rough estimate but I really wanted the book so I just tried to be reasonable with the price.
"Seriously?! That could last me five decades!" The customer was perplexed by the cost. "Can you even buy that?"
Fortunately, I could but unfortunately, I couldn't. I could very well buy this book with ease but I didn't want others to know about this so I decided to do an equal trade with him.
"No, I can't buy it but I could trade it with something of equal value. Name what you want and I'll give it to you." I told him.
He looked around for a moment and then saw something that caught his eye. It was a golden staff and a blue and red magicians robe.
The golden staff was called the Arcane Staff and the magician's robe was called The robe of Domination.
The staff can absorb and fire any magical attacks while the magician's robe can recover your magical energy. Coincidentally, both items together cost the exact amount of gold coins that the book costs.
I accepted his offer and gave him the two items in exchange for the book. After he left with his powerful items, I took the book and placed it in the vault.
It seemed pretty valuable so I'll just put it with all the other valuable items. Once I was done with that, I realized it was closing time so I closed down the shop.
Kenji and Yuno should be back soon, so I need to be on the look out. As for Iris, she was in her room, reading.
I went to my office and sat down. I couldn't help but be curious about that book and decided to take it out of the vault and see what it was.
When I took a look at it, there were weird letters on it. It must have been some ancient language because I wasn't able to read it for some reason.
When I first came to this world, I figured out that I could speak and read any language in this fantasy world. That was how I was able to speak with the dragon.
This was a first when I couldn't read the language. I decided to use [Translate] to see if that would work and it did.
The Codex was like an instruction manual for mechanical engineering. They all looked fantasy like so I wasn't surprised.
I then saw something that made my jaw drop.
It was a DIY on how to make your own working automaton. I instantly slammed the book shut and process what I just saw.
I took a look at the page again and confirmed that my eyes weren't tricking me. There were actually robots in this world.
I think I need to start making further plans with my business with Hazel.
-Nami's POV-
"Hey, Missy! You've arrived at Gora City." The carriage driver told me.
I got out of the carriage and paid the man for driving me here. I then walked towards the guards that were in front of the entrance.
"Can I see your papers, ma'am?" One of the guards asked me.
I pulled out my identification papers and handed it to him. Once he confirmed that they were real, he let me pass.
Of course, that identification paper was forged. If I gave them my real ID paper, there would be thousands of guards surrounding me right now.
I have to say though, this place hasn't changed much. The last time I was here was when I killed my slave owner and finally left the city.
I was thirteen at the time and since then, I've only wanted one thing, to live the life I want. I didn't care if I had to kill people.
It didn't matter to me because, in the end, no one could capture me. Some have tried and they all failed in the end.
My life as an assassin isn't so bad. It's easy money so I can't say I dislike the job.
Besides, Hazel hired me this job so I can't really refuse her. She may not be a Killer for Hire but she sure as hell fights and acts like one.
None of the other killers for hire would want to get on her bad side. I'm pretty sure Renai was the only one that had the guts to fight her.
It's kind of ironic that we Killers for Hire are the most feared and known yet some of us tremble before the Bandit Witch who wasn't a part of our little group but acts like one of us.
Anyway, I should find an Inn and then plan out my attack on this Shoda Yuuto guy. The fact that this guy is going against Hazel amuses me.
Let's see how much fun this Yuuto fella can show me.
