-Randall's POV-
The ocean looked so beautiful.
As I continued to gaze in awe at the wonderful sight of the blue ocean, I could hear the rest of the shipmates preparing the sails so we could travel over to Brequall. I was currently on a ship that was sailing to The Brequall Continent to transport some product.
I've been a part of this shipping group for almost five years. I started when I was fifteen years old and ever since then, I loved every minute of it.
I heard the captain of the ship giving orders to the shipmates and watched as they all worked according to his orders. I also did my part and helped prepare the cannons that were used for self-defense.
While all of us was doing this, a thick gray fog was closing in on us. The captain ordered us to ready ourselves for the fog.
Since we were about to go into a fog, we needed to be careful not to crash into anything while we were inside. I didn't have much to do so I examined my surroundings which was covered in the thick fog.
I couldn't see anything at all but after a while, I noticed a shadow up ahead in the fog. I didn't know what it was but I guessed that it was another ship.
The rest of the shipmates noticed the ship up ahead and were trying to prevent us from crashing into them. As we got closer to the ship, I noticed something odd about it.
When I got a closer look at the ship, I saw that the sails had holes, the exterior of the ship had all kinds of holes to where it was impossible for it to even sail. Not only that but the ship didn't even appear to be sailing at all.
It looked like it was slightly hovering over the water.
Could it be . . .
No . . . that can't be.
"Ghost Ship!" One of the shipmates shouted.
So it was. What was in front of me was an actual ghost ship like in the stories.
The ghost ship was getting closer to us and the other shipmates were preparing for battle. I have never been in a naval battle so I was inexperienced.
Knowing that I was going to be a nuisance to the others, I went down below deck and tried to find a place to hide until it was over. I didn't know what was going to happen but this was all I could do.
I found a good hiding spot behind some cargo so I hid behind there and waited. I kept my head down and heard the battle starting.
I heard cannonballs firing and the shipmates reloading the cannons. I then heard cannonballs hitting our ship and damaging us.
Some of the cannonballs were shot near me so I could've died but luckily I somehow survived. Despite surviving the cannon fire, it seems that the ghost ship was winning because I heard hooks grabbing on to something and felt the ship being pulled.
Oh no, we're about to get boarded. The sound of swords clashing against each other could be heard and also the sound of a blade piercing a body.
I could hear the rest of the shipmates grunting when they got stabbed and fell to the ground. While I was cowering in fear, I felt something on my head and looked up.
It felt like a water but when I looked at what was dripping, I saw that the color was red. This was the color of blood.
My body began to shake in fear and I realized that it was dead silent. Were all my crewmates dead?
That was my only conclusion to the sudden silence. I tried to hear if the enemy was leaving but I saw a rat crawling towards me and I slightly yelped.
