I just stared at the blue hologram known as Leontine Hamilton.

As I stared at the hologram, she then bowed her head and apologized to me.

"I'm truly sorry for burdening you."

I didn't know what she meant and since this was obviously a recording, she'll likely explain to me why she's apologizing. As if on cue, she then revealed why she's apologizing.

"You see, I was the one that brought you to this world. We've already met but the moment after our meeting, you forgot everything that happened during our encounter so I made a recording to explain everything."

Her voice sounded static and it was kind of hard to heard her but I got the gist of what she was saying.

"Now then, before we go any further, I want to say that since I am now dead, you are now the last of our kind. The reason why you are the only one left is because of me. Due to my mistakes in the past, I was responsible for the destruction of my own kind."

So she's the one that survived the gods' wraith, huh. She looks pretty old so her kind must have a long lifespan.

"You see, before my kinds utter extinction, I lived a life full of wonder. The world I lived in was filled with curiosity and I wanted to explore and uncover it all but I knew that like the rest of my kind, I wouldn't be able to discover them all."

So does she not have a long lifespan or did something happen? I was getting curious and waited until she got to that part of her story.

"Since I knew that I would die before I could fully explore and uncover this world, I went on a journey. This journey was me looking for a way to prolong my life. What I was looking for was a way to become immortal."

Wow, this is starting to get interesting . . . But also pretty depressing.

I knew all about immortality from anime and mangas and just regular movies and tv shows. Someone becomes immortal and they try a way to get rid of it.

Some of them even look for a way to become immortal and soon hate what they sought after because of the consequences. They would likely fall in love with someone, have kids, and then watch them die over and over again.

Being immortal isn't really such a fun thing when you outgrow everyone you love. I can't imagine myself being immortal.

"During my journey, I searched for countless ways to lengthen my lifespan. I tried everything but after a few years of searching, I finally found a way to become immortal. It was a potion made from ingredients that no longer exist thanks to the gods."

Hmm, so the gods got rid of the path to immortality. That seems like a smart move.

"Once I finally obtain immortality, this was when the consequences happened. When I became immortal, I angered the gods in the process." Her expression darkened and I can't blame her.

"The gods thought that when I became immortal, I was trying to overthrow them but I tried to tell them that they were wrong. All I wanted was to explore the world for as long as I could but they didn't listen to me."

I can understand that. When people with higher power sees someone beneath them trying to get to their level, they instantly think that they're about to be replaced.

"With the gods' minds set, they all then struck down their wraith on my kind. After the extermination was done, I was the last one standing while the rest of my kind were dead at my feet."

That must explain why I saw that image of being in rubble and getting up to see thousands of dead people all over. Wait, so if the gods exterminated her kind, how come she survived?
