"What's up with you, Yuuto?" Iris asked me.
"There's nothing to do," I told her.
I was at the counter, waiting for another customer but I was starting to lose my patience. We usually get a customer every five minutes but it seems today just wasn't that day.
As I continued to wait around, my stomach started to grumble, telling me to go eat something. I wanted to go eat but there was nothing sweet around here.
This world had things called cake but it's nothing like my old world's cakes. These people don't even have ice cream.
What kind of monster sends a man that loves all things sweet to a world that doesn't know the meaning of the word? I'm gonna die if I keep eating bread and regular cuisine foods!
I went to a nearby bakery once to see what they had but all they had was bread and baked buns. There were no sweets at all.
And they call this place a bakery? Where're the pastries?!
That does it! I'm gonna make my own desserts!
Having declared that, I headed towards the kitchen. I knew the essentials of making a few of the desserts so I just needed to start cooking to get my bearings.
I took out a bowl, flour, milk, eggs, and butter. I then realized that there were a few things missing.
Where's the vanilla and sugar? I'm pretty sure that I had those two key ingredients.
I looked around the kitchen but couldn't find them. Seriously, I need to go out and buy them?
Whatever.
I then went outside and started my hunt for vanilla and sugar. After going to a few trade stores and food shops, I realized that there wasn't any vanilla and sugar.
I heard from a few bakers that vanilla and sugar are rich people ingredients so there weren't any of those two ingredients in the commoner's district. Does that mean I have to go to the noble's district to get the ingredients?
I didn't want to but if I wanted to make desserts, I kind of need those. Alright, let's go to the noble's district.
As I walk to the noble's district, I was stopped by two guards protecting the section.
"State you're business, commoner." The guard ordered me.
"I'm just here to get vanilla and sugar," I told them.
The guards just laughed at me. I don't remember telling them a joke so what was so funny?
"What would a commoner like you want such valuable ingredients?" The guard asked me in an insulting tone.
Valuable ingredients, my ass. Those two "valuable ingredients" were used all over the world back on my old world.
They were basically common ingredients for everyone. Then again, this world isn't as advanced as my old world so I'm guessing they're still going through a phase.
"I'm trying to make something but I need those ingredients for it to work so could you please let me pass?" I asked politely.
"I don't take orders from you!" Saying this, I got hit in the stomach with the butt of the guard's spear.
I took a knee and held my stomach. It didn't really hurt thanks to my stats but I couldn't just stand there like nothing happened.
Although, taking that hit kind of pissed me off. The fact that these guards do these kinds of things are far worse.
