-Aquanis's POV-

"Are they ready?" I asked Basalt.

"Yes. The Earth and Air army are ready for battle. Since you are in charge, you will lead them."

I looked behind us and saw hundreds of elemental monsters ready for the upcoming battle. With this, that masked bastard and shop owner won't know what hit them.

"Alright, we depart in a few minutes so be prepared," I told them.

"Understood."

After that, I went over to where the Vessel was. She was crouching in her cage and laying her head down.

"I'm only going to ask this once. Let Infernus back in control."

"And I'll say this as many times as I need to. No. I'm not going to let your sister roam free so she can kill whoever she pleases."

Her determination was admirable . . . But also vexing.

"Fine. It doesn't matter anyway. Once we apprehend that Masked man, he'll be able to release our sister. Even if it means by force."

The Vessel didn't say anything and stayed silent. With nothing more to say, I walked away and continued with my plan.

Today is the day that we end this little game of ours. That Masked bastard will regret crossing us.

-Yuuto's POV-

"Come on, Yuuto. Hurry up!" Whitney was pulling me to one of the stands in the city.

Right now, I'm currently hanging out with Whitney. The reason for this is that she wanted to repay me for helping her out before with her business and saving her life.

My first response was to decline her but she was pretty persistent, as you can see. She kept going on and on how she was indebted to me and wanted to pay me back for my kindness.

My will wasn't strong enough to decline her so I had no choice but to accept her otherwise, she would've been bugging me about it.

Anyway, I decided to enjoy myself like Whitney wanted me too. To be honest, it was pleasant.

I've been so hung up on the spirits that I never really got a chance to enjoy myself and relax. It's nice that I get to rest a little bit.

. . . Well, almost.

I wasn't completely relaxed because I kept watching my surroundings. I was worried that the spirits might attack us at any time.

Whitney noticed my paranoid looking and looked worried.

"Yuuto, are you okay?" She asked me.

"Hmm? Yeah, I'm fine. Why?"

"Well, you seem kind of nervous, like you're afraid that something's going to attack you."

She has no idea. I can't tell her that there might be an army of monsters coming to the city so I needed to come up with something.

"O-oh, that. Well, since I own a shop and everything, I'm worried that someone might try to kidnap me or something."

"Really? You took down a crime lord, didn't you? Why would you be afraid of some crook?"

Her reasoning was spot on. Sometimes I wish I had taken down Hazel while I was Karma but the thought didn't occur to me and so, I have to deal with the consequences.

"W-well, there's also the possibility that they might go for someone close to me."

"But all the people who you're with can handle themselves, right? Yuno and Kenji are your guards, Nami is a killer for hire, and Iris is a witch. I think you're overreacting."

. . . Okay, that backfired. I was trying to get her to understand but after hearing her explanation, it really does sound like I'm too paranoid.

I was tempted to tell her the truth but that wouldn't go well for anyone. Iris, Nami, and Billy were exceptions because they're on my journey too but telling Whitney would cause her trouble.

Unlike my companions, Whitney isn't a fighter. If she found out who I was and everything about me, she would be a target for people who would want to know me.

I don't want her to be targeted by dangerous people. She wouldn't be able to handle it.

"Hey, Yuuto. There's a crowd over there. Let's check it out."

Once again, Whitney pulled my arm and dragged me over to something that interested her. When we got to the crowd, we saw that there was some kind of performance.

There were two girls in magician cloaks and had wooden wands. One had long blond hair and the other one had short white grayish hair.

They both seemed to be the same age which was seventeen or eighteen. I was wondering what they were doing so I decided to check it out.

When we went to check out, a giant bubble horned elephant appeared out of nowhere. I thought we were getting attacked for a second but it was actually one of the magician girls doing that for their performance.

"Oh! It's Dana Sun and Nora Moon!" Whitney exclaimed.

Okay, I'm going to ignore the fact that their last names are Sun and Moon even though and that their hair signifies their name. Just from their last names and hair color, I knew that Dana was the blond and Nora was the white-haired girl.

"Who are they?" I asked Whitney.

"They're one of the most known street performers ever. I hear that they're studying at Makora Academy which was known for being a school only high-class magic users can go to. That shows how amazing they are."

(Author's Note: In case you haven't noticed, I'm setting a flag here. That's the only reason why I'm even talking about these girls. So, you'll be seeing these two later on in the story. I don't know when but I guarantee you that you'll hear from these two again. Anyway, back to the story!)

"Really? I guess that means they have potential." I muttered.

I remember in one of Leontine's memories that she used to teach at Makora Academy. Not only that but she actually helped build the school.

She was offered to be the Principle but declined and just stuck with being a regular teacher. Yeah, Leontine's just like that.

Anyway, we decided to stay and watch their performance a little longer. While we were enjoying the show, I felt something was watching me and looked at the direction of where it was coming from.

I looked up at a rooftop and saw a familiar bird watching me. When the bird saw me when I noticed it, it flew away.

. . . I got a bad feeling about this.

Suddenly, there was a horn being used that echoed throughout the city. Everyone who heard started to get anxious and even afraid.

"What's going on?" I asked Whitney.

"T-That's the alarm horn. It means that something bad is happening."

I knew what this meant. It means the spirits were making their move.
