-Nami's POV-
Geez, there's no end to these things!
Every time I kill one ghost, another just takes its place. How many of these things are there?
"Iris, how are you holding up?" I asked.
"Not . . . Good. There's too . . . Many."
Iris wasn't kidding. It looks like she's having the same problem as well.
Even with Yuuto's holy weapons, taking down these guys ain't going to be a cakewalk. More and more ghost pirates began to swarm us and I had to grab Iris and retreat.
We managed to get to the city streets but it wasn't long until those damn ghosts caught up to us.
"Damn!"
I didn't have enough energy to fight right now so I didn't know what to do. When the ghosts got closer to us, they were then blocked by some invisible force.
Where did that come from? Was it Yuuto?
I turned to look for Yuuto but all I could see was that Oracle girl along with a few priests casting the barrier. It must be that divine protection that a group of priests can cast.
"You guys okay?" The Oracle asked us.
"Yeah, we're good," I told her.
"Good, because we won't be able to hold this barrier for long. You need to take down as many as you can. Take the lanterns." She motioned towards the two lanterns next to her.
Iris and I took one and ran back to the beach. Once we were back inside, we turned on the lanterns and the ghosts wailed in pain and floated away.
We were able to push them back to the ocean where they returned to their ships. Alright, we were able to push them back.
I got my hopes up too early because I heard cannon fire and saw a cannonball zooming right to us. I grabbed Iris and jumped away from the line of fire.
I managed to dodge the cannon and saw the big hole it made that we were just at. Thank goodness I acted when I did.
More cannons were fired and I had to grab Iris again and continued to jump away. It was getting to the point where it was tedious.
While dodging one of the cannonballs, I dropped the lanterns and they fell on the sand. I was about to go back to get them but a couple more cannonballs were coming my way and I was forced to retreat.
When I looked back, I saw the lanterns getting destroyed by one of the cannonballs. Great, there goes that plan.
When the lanterns were destroyed, the ghosts that were on the ship, jumped off and ran back to the shore.
"How long can you keep that barrier up?" I asked The Oracle.
"Not long. Keeping up a barrier this big takes alot of energy," She told me.
That's not good. If that barrier goes down then those phantoms will infest this entire city.
Where the hell are you, Yuuto?
The ghosts were now at the barrier, clawing their way in. They lashed their swords and even cannonballs were fired at the barrier.
"You might want to do something. With those cannons fired at the barrier, this barrier won't last much longer." The Oracle warned me.
"Iris, can you fight?" I asked her.
"Can't . . . Too tired." Iris huffed.
I didn't have enough energy to fight either. Fighting those ghosts took a toll on both of us.
