Chapter 18: Open Season

-Hazel's POV-

"I'm glad that you agreed to meet me, Billy." 

Standing in front of me is Billy Mercer. An outlaw in the south region in a country called Pethus. 

It's a country controlled by the Black Order. They're an extremist group that uses death sentences for all crimes no matter how petty.

It's their way of "Dealing with the problem before it gets worse." Regardless, I don't judge other countries rules and policies so I didn't matter to me.

Billy was about five foot four, had messy blond hair, was covered in dirt, and was wearing worn out rancher outfit with a rancher hat to go with it.

"Well, I ain't no fool that would refuse someone as powerful and rich as you." Billy complimented. 

His manner of speaking is because of the fact that he's from the south. Not all southerners sound like he does but there is a majority that does.

"Now, shall we move on with business?" I asked.

"Sure thing! I'm ready for whatever you throw at me." He seemed eager to get started.

"Your mission is to capture my step-daughter and kill the person protecting her named Shoda Yuuto." 

"Shoda Yuuto? He's from Ogasawara?" Like Nami, Billy asked if Yuuto was from Ogasawara.

"To my knowledge, no. There are no records of him ever being born in Ogasawara. He seems to have just appeared out of nowhere two months ago."

"Hmm, so this fella has no records and just showed up? I'm not sure I can help you if I this was all I could get by."

I knew he would say that. When it comes to hunting people down like dogs, Billy was the man to get the job done.

Nami may be good at killing people in silent but she has never hunted them down across countries but Billy has. That's why I hired him to hunt down Shoda Yuuto.

"He may not have any records that could help you but he does own a shop called The Mithril Shop. Since he left, I want you to go to Gora City and see what you can find that can lead to him."

"Now that's something that I'm capable of doing. I'll check in on ya if I find something worth yer while!"

After he said that, he rushed out the room to begin his hunt. I looked at the floor and saw that it was covered in dirt from him.

"Clean this mess up!" I ordered some of the bandits inside.

While they cleaned up Billy's mess, I sat on the throne thinking about Billy Mercer.

It's true that he's the best when it comes to tracking down people but I'm not certain that it'll be easy. Shoda Yuuto was able to foresee me hiring Nami to assassinate him and he fleed.

Was it possible that he left something behind so that it could be traced to him? So far, he's been so calculated and precise throughout my plans that I don't know what I can do to get the drop on him. 

Let's hope that Billy is able to catch this bastard. 

By the way, I wonder how Billy even became a killer for hire. The title isn't just given to people so he had to earn it somehow.

Unlike the other killers for hire that earned their title, Billy's story of how he became one was a mystery. I wonder what he did.

Wow, the grassy fields look amazing.

Right now, we're currently trying to leave The Estela Country and go north. The country north of Estela was Walen.
