Chapter 82: Modifications

Well, it took a while but I'm finally done with my observation job. 

It was actually pretty easy after dealing with those Oena Lovers. After we dealt with them, we mostly just made sure the stands were good and that was about it.

Anyway, I was on my way back to the Inn so I could get some sleep. I looked at my watch to check the time. 

It was seven forty-five PM. It wasn't dark out but the sun was setting pretty low. 

Once I got back to the Inn, I headed straight towards my room so I could sleep. Unfortunately, the moment I was about to crash, I get a call from Leontine through my head.

"Hey, Yuuto! I made some modifications to that rocket launcher you were making and I wanted you to check it out." 

"Alright, I'm on my way." 

I then open up a portal and made it to the Base. When I arrived, Rose was there to greet me.

"Hello, Master." 

"Hey, Rose. I heard Leontine's made some adjustments to my launcher." 

"That's correct. After receiving your orders, Mother has been working for hours on the launcher. Due to the fact that she's no longer human but an automaton, she doesn't need to sleep and can work to her heart's content." 

"Well, that's good to hear." 

Rose then guided me to the Lab. We arrived at the lab and I saw Leontine fiddling with my launcher.

She seemed to be pretty into it. I noticed that she was wearing glasses along with . . . smoking some kind of pipe?

Hmm, it kind of reminded me of the pipe that I see Sherlock Holmes smokes. It's kind of funny, to be honest.

"So, what did you do?" I asked Leontine.

"Oh, good, you're here. See for yourself." 

Leontine backed away and presented the newly modified firework rocket launcher. I looked at the control panel and saw that there were more buttons and nobs placed on it.

"Do I even want to know what some of these do?" I asked.

"Don't worry. I'll be sure to make an instruction manual for you." 

That's not what I wanted to hear but whatever. I'll just have to do what I can without completely destroying the launcher. 

"A-anyway, what else did you do?" I asked.

"Well, I made some adjustments to the firework rocket. Instead of gunpowder to launch it, I used a Fire Crystal to use as a thruster." 

"Hmm, I can see that. Alot of problems could happen with gunpowder like it blowing up after ignited or nothing at all." 

"Yep and that's why I decided to replace it with the crystal. It's a lot more simple and more likely to be successful." 

"Can't argue with that. Anything else?" 

"Well, I was planning to decorate the box a little but other than that, no." 

"Hmm, well, good work." I praised her.

"It's been a while since I did this but I still know a thing or two. After a couple of centuries, all I mostly did was trying to stay secluded from others so I couldn't cause them trouble." 

"Speaking of causing people trouble, I think it's time we talked about what Edgar told us about his revival." 

"You mean when he said the person who revived him had to have known me?"
