That same night Vince asked my sister to be her girlfriend and my twin said yes.
"Congrats twin and bro!" I happily congratulated them.
"Eh ikaw Edong, when are you, ahm, when, ahm, kailan magiging tayo?" Heather asked in that irritating way of hers.
"Will you please stop calling me that! Stop assuming that I like you just because I asked you to be my prom date!"
"Then why did you ask me kung wala kang gusto sa akin?"
"Because I had no choice!"
Thankfully Laura and Vince didn't hear us.
Laura was video chatting with someone.
"Maymay! Soul sis!" I heard her say and my ears perked up.
"Kayo na ni Kuya?"
"Wait! How did you know when I haven't said anything yet?"
"Eh kasi sinabi sa akin ni kuya ang tungkol sa surprise proposal nya sayo!"
"Wait, is that you Moymoy?" I can't help it. I tried to butt in.
"Bushak ka talaga Brad bigla bigla kang sumisingit!"
"Bakit nagulat ka ba sa sobrang kagwapuhan ko?" in my best Tagalog accent.
"Asa ka naman Brad! Mas gwapo si Tanner noh!" I mentally rolled my eyes.
"Yeah, right! I'm sure you just harassed him to be your prom date!"
"Ano'ng hinarass?!? Hindi noh! He asked me to be his prom date!"
"So he likes you?" I can't help but ask in a serious tone.
"Malamang! Kaya nga ako ang kadate nya di ba?!"
"Congrats!" that's it! I shoved the phone back to Laura and walked out.
She was surprised with what I did but she didn't stop me.
After our third year JS Prom, Heather kept on sticking to me like glue.
One time Vince asked me...
"Bro, girlfriend mo na ba si Heather?"
"Nope!" (not in a million years!)
"Eh bakit kung makapulupot sayo wagas tapos hinahayaan mo lang?"
"She's just a friend who is very sweet." I said sarcastically.
"Naku bro! Delikado yang very sweet na yan! Baka magkadiabetes ka!" (which annoyed me!)
"Just mind your own damn business Vince!"
He just laughed at me and said...
"Eto naman di na mabiro! Kinukumusta ka nga pala ni Maymay." (the magic word!)
"Why?" I asked hesitantly but it came out sarcastic.
"Hindi ka na daw kasi nya nakikita kapag nagvivideochat sila ni Laura kaya kinukumusta ka." (my ears couldn't believe what it just heard!)
"So?" I said dripping with sarcasm trying to hide my eagerness.
"Namimiss ata yung pang-aasar mo!"
"Really?" I said in disbelief.
"Oo naman!"
"Why would she miss me when she's busy with Tanner?" I said in a whisper.
"May sinasabi ka ba bro?"
"I said just tell her that I'm busy with Heather!" (I don't know why I said this!)
"Ha? Akala ko ba friend mo lang yun?"
"Then tell her that I'm busy with my girl friend Heather!" then I walked out on Vince.
"Ang labo mo bro!" I myself think I'm malabo!
