Dancing On My Own

Dane's POV

Kanina pa ako inaalalayan ni Quen kasi medyo 'di pa ako nakakagalaw ng maayos. Hinayaan ko nalang, niligtas niya ako eh. Baka ito na ang way ni Lord para masettle namin ang kung ano man ang dapat i-settle. Medyo nakakailang man pero 'di naman niya yun pinaparamdam. Wala na rin sa'kin kasi alam kong bumabawi lang siya at mahabahabang usapan ang mabgyayari mamaya. Napabuntong hininga nalang ako.

Nandito kami ngayon sa resto at kumakain ng hapunan. Matapos ang nangyari ay napagdesisyonan ng lahat na dito nalang ganapin ang second wave ng program, total parang uulan din naman kasi walang bituin kanina sa langit eh. Kwentuhan lang kami at medyo okay naman si Quen sa mga kasama ko dito sa table. 'Pag may nagtatanong kung ano ba kami, napapatawa nalang siya at iniiba ang topic. Alam kong wala naman ng namamagitan sa'min at hindi na talaga pareho ng dati. Oo, mahal ko pa siya pero para sa isang bestfriend nalang. 'Di ko alam na mangyayari to at yun lang nararamdaman ko sa kanya. Mayamaya pa't pumunta na si Elaine sa gitna ng stage, all around talaga tong fren ko.

"Good Evening Ladies and Gentlemen. We are about to start our program and we will call it "EJBall 2018" sabi niya. Natawa naman ako 'dun, ang witty ah. Simpleng ball lang naman to, we're on our cocktails and formal attires. Simpleng floral pink dress lang din ang suot ko.

Kanina ko pa hinahanap si Edrake, alam kong sinisisi niya ang sarili niya pero hindi niya naman kasalanan 'yun eh. Kasalanan 'yun ng pesteng alon hahahahaha natawa nalang ako.

Palinga linga ako at patuloy na iniisa isa ang nandoon sa hall at ng makita ko siya, nagtama ang aming mata. Ngumiti ako sa kanya para sabihing okay lang ang lahat, mabuti nalang at nginitian niya ako pabalik. Gumaan naman ang loob ko 'dun. Agad naman kaming nagbawi ng titig at bumalik na sa aming mga kausap. Tumatawa na rin ako ngayon at sumasabay sa usapan at asaran nila. Parang na good vibes bigla ah. Napailing nalang ako.

"May I request everyone who are willing to dance at the center of the hall, please go here immediately." anunsyo ni Elaine.

Nagsimulang tumugtog ang kanta. Slow dance daw kasi para sweet. Ediwow. Inaya naman ako ni Quen kaya pumayag na ako baka maputol ko pa ang good vibes niya.

Damn this song. You know that feeling that you think every song fits on the feels you are currently feeling. Everything is just damn perfect to hit my heart. Now, the girl I wish I was holding right now is dancing with his long lost partner. How could I take that happiness in her eyes. Those sparkling ray of sunshine as she smiles to her partner.

I sighed. Maybe, everything is falling to its right places. I came too late and as expected, I'm out of the picture. But later I realized, was I really part of the picture? I guess not. And it stings my heart. Really.

So near yet so far. That's it. I can't let myself be involved on their picture when in the first place they don't want me to be involved. It's just so stupid if I will let that to happen. I'm happy and contented seeing her from afar, swaying her body against the lyrics of the song and feeling each other's heartbeat as they connect from one another.

She can't probably see me because her attention is blocked by her past. And now that barrier is slowly opened and I think that would be great for the both of them. I'm happy for them, I really am.
