Midnight Sky

Edrake's POV

I went home immediately after I finished all the pending works I have. I'm so excited and no definition of happiness can describe what I am feeling right now. I'm smiling from ear to ear as I am driving home. It's already 12:30AM as I looked on the time in my car. I'm having enough to prepare and pull off this surprise to Dane. I'm on my way home love, home in your arms. I smiled.

After I parked my car in our garage, I'm smiling while I enter our house. But those smiles were erased to the fact that my Mom is crying in the living room. I immediately go into her and hugged her tightly. She looked me in my eyes and all I can see is pain and sadness.

"Hey Mom, what happened?" I asked.

She didn't respond instead she cried her out and hugged me tightly. I can't understand what is happening. Confusion is registered in  my face. Few moments, she spoke finally.

"I'm sorry, Edrake. Please forgive me, believe I've tried everything to stop it for you but-" she didn't continue what she have said because she broke down once again.

"Mom, I can't understand anything. Mom, please tell it to me directly." I'm starting to feel fear and nervous because it has something to do with me.

"Edrake, promise me that you won't hate me after saying these. Please swear to me, anak." she pleaded. I immediately nodded my forehead and she started to relax herself. After few moments of breathing in and out, what she said next broke my heart piece by piece.

"Dane is on her way to the Philippines-" I didn't let her finish what she's saying because I'm running out of time. Why Dane? You promised that you won't leave me? Why?

My tears are streaming down my cheeks. My eyesight is getting blurry but I didn't bother to wipe it. I need to catch her before it's all too late. Dane, please wait for me love. Please, love. I will understand you this time, just don't let me go. Please.

I whispered as I said a silent prayer. God, help me please. Please, I'm begging you.

I didn't care how fast I'm driving right now. I didn't care if I will get any violation tomorrow. All I care at the moment is Dane. Please love, wait for me.

As I was passing by an intersection, I was blinded by a blinding light and moments after that is a loud noise from wheels and broken glasses. Then, everything went black.

Dane's POV

"Hello Miss Enriquez." sabi niya

"Yes, Good Morning Sir." bati ko

"Can you please spend a few moments right now, I just wanted to clear something." diretsa niyang sabi.

Kinabahan naman ako baka work related pero parang hindi eh. Napatanaw naman ako kaagad sa natutulog na mukha ni Edrake. Kinabahan ako bigla. Biglang kumalabog ang dibdib ko.

"Hello Miss Enriquez, are you still there?" sabi sa kabilang linya.

Nabalik naman ako sa wastong pag-iisip matapos marinig ang boses niya.

"Yes po. Give me a minute." sabi ko

"Okay, I'll be waiting here in your apartment's lobby." sabi niya at agad ibinaba ang tawag.

Muli akong lumingon sa mapayapang pagtulog ni Edrake. Hindi ko alam pero biglang bumagsak ang isang luha sa aking mga mata. Bumangon naman ako agad-agad atsaka nagbihis.

Panginoon, kung anuman po ang kahinatnan ng araw na to, bigyan Niyo po ako ng sapat na lakas at gabay para po sa mga desisyon na gagawin ko ngayon.
