Jughead was coming home from his week from school. It was mid fall, the sun was starting to set for the night. He came close to the house, noticing the lights on as he approached the front door. The house seemed quiet, not a thing out of place... or so he thought.
He knew his father feared two things. Methyphobia; the fear of Alcohol. He also had THANATOPHOBIA: the fear of losing someone you love.
He walked in the door, finding his dad staring at a bottle that was daring him to drink it - on the coffee table. The way his father looked made his stomach turn.
"Dad..." His voices quietly, trying not to aggravate the urge to drink even more.
"You spoke to my father." FP opens his mouth, letting that statement bash against his son.
"I-I didn't think he would contact you. Alice wouldn't tell me. I never thought—"
"You never do, Jughead." He scolds loudly, causing his son to step away." You just do whatever you please, without thinking who or whom it might impact."
"You lied to me. Your father didn't leave or was dead. You lied about my grandfather!" Jughead spat.
FP finds himself trying to calm down. He didn't want to do something he'd regret later on. He had a lifetime of mistakes and broken promises he made.
"I was protecting you! Like I've always done. Don't you forget that I went to prison to keep you from the Blossom's clutches!"
"What's going on here?!" FP and Jughead's anger leaves to only find someone at the front door.
Alice had just gotten off of work, decided to pick up dinner before going back to the house. She had heard yelling coming from inside the house. She opened the door to find FP and Jughead in a heated argument with one another.
"Well. Someone explain!" She barked when she noticed them staring bug-eyed at her.
"He lied about my grandfather! I could've had a relationship with him and he never told me the truth!" Jughead snapped.
Alice's heart snapped at the thought of FP's childhood. His father had been mean and cruel towards him. She knew that FP hid his true emotions very well when it came to his father.
"Jughead, you have—" She was cut off by Jughead's brisk statement.
"I have to understand what? That my father is a liar! I'll be at Archie's for the night!" He shook his head angrily, stalked off and slammed the door behind him.
FP's eyes tried to reflect his tears back. He knew his son was angry with him, but he didn't expect him be so vex with his decision.
He did it to protect his son, his family and most importantly himself as well. His father had affected him in so many ways. His dad ruined any chances of getting into an Ivy-league college. He wanted him to run the serpents and never get freed from his untouchable power.
The one time he did stand up for himself: He had been left with a broken arm. He would lie about every injure. His mother well. FP didn't know much about her.
His thoughts were that she left him with the psycho. Well that's what Forsythe Senior had told him. He didn't know the truth.
"How did he find out?" Alice's angelic voice pulled him out of his fog.
A humorless chuckle escaped his lips." He's Jughead. He won't leave things alone, even when he thinks he knows what's good for him."
Alice gently grabbed his hand over the coffee table and spots the one vice that made her heart pound with anxiety.
