Too many were finding out about your arrival, so maybe it was best if you left. “Don’t you even think about it,” Kiba spoke loud and clear from the other side of the door.
In the end, you gave up and entered the room. You turned the light on, Kiba was seating on the bed. The bag that you always carried didn’t have anything of value, and yet it was at his side. Maybe he was looking for something that pointed out that it was really you.
But even if he didn’t find any evidence, he already knew. “What are you doing here?” In hopes that he was here to warn you about not hurting Shino’s feelings, you asked. Since the bed was ocupied, you took the chair and waited for him to answer.
The chair was where Shino left it, so it was very close to the bed. That only gave Kiba more access to what you believe is your scent. “When did you plan to tell everyone that you returned?”
He wasn’t happy mostly because you had kept your arrival hidden. “I didn’t return, I’m here temporarily. I,” pursing your lips, you leaned back, “I just wanted to see how you all have been. With how and for how long I dissapeared, I wanted to see you all. But now that you know,” you left Shino out of this not wanting them to have any problems, “I should probably leave sooner.”
Kiba jumped to his feet, grabbed you by the shoulders and easily lifted you to your feet. His face was very close to yours, his eyes roamed around covered face and you could see the small droplets of tears gathering at the corner of his eyes. “But why? There’s no reason for you to leave again.”
“There is, I-“ But Kiba shut you up by pushing your head against his chest and hugged you tightly.
“You’re such an idiot, you know that?” There was a tremble in his voice as his arms rightened even more on your form.
You're throat clenched as you fought not to cry, and the rubbing on your back made it worse. It's one of those things when someone is trying to console you by rubbing your back, but it makes you cry more. "I-I Know."
The two of you cried in silence for a few minutes until you guys had no more tears to shed. " Tell me what happened." He pushed you to the bed and he took a seat on the chair this time.
His hands held your owns as he waited to talk. "While fighting I understimated Kira, which almost cost me my life." Thinking back and how things were now, sometimes there was some regret in killing him. He was the only one who had been able to return you to normality, which is something you had been looking for. "He managed to take away my healing. Some people found me and took me to a hospital.I don't know how long it was there but I left as soon as I was away. I was ready to return, but I found out that there were people after me and bounty hunters."
Kiba looked away in shame as if held himself responsible.
"I had to hide until I lost them but during that time I found that whatever Kira had done was only temporary. So since my abilities were one of the things people were after I decided to dissapear for sometime. That time turned to years and it was enough time to realize that as long as I possessed this abilities, people would never stop trying to catch me."
If anything, the first years were the easiest despite all the running and danger. "Which is why I began to look for people who at least had an idea of how to get rid of it," you unintentionally winced, it was not easy to forget all that torture, "Wich resulted in nothing from it, " but pain. He didn't need to know that.Kiba looked so heartbroken to hear your story, he seemed to want to say something but couldn't.
"Although so much time passed, it doesn't mean that I didn't miss you guys. If anything, being alone was enough torture. The only thing I have in life worth living for are my family," your heart ached remembering that letter your father sent you, "but...They..." You trailed of letting him know what you were talking about, "So I only really had my friends and I had abandoned them. I just....Wanted to watch your from afar and then leave."
His hands felt so warm against your own, and even when he stood up to seat down at your side, he didn't let go. "You didn't have to go through all of that alone, if you asked for help we would have helped you."
Squishing his hand back you smiled. "I know, but I couldn't. The war left so much devastation and you still had and have family who care about you. I couldn't do that to any of you."
"But now you have no reason to leave, if you really care for us then stay. "
"But I do," even if so much time has passed you couldn't just forget that there was a bounty on you, and for a reason. When you left, you had killed innocent people who had been fighting the enemy. You doubted that even after so much time has passed they'll be able to forgive you that easily.
"It wasn't your fault, many others would have died if you hadn't done that. You saved many Shinobi and Kunoichi that even when they returned home, they never spoke ill of you. So stop making excuses." Giving you a last hug, he stood up. "You must be tired so I'll let you sleep but just think about it. Okay?"
Sending him a smile you nodded, maybe he wasn't wrong and it was time to stop making excuses. You watched him go and leaving you to think.
Would it be so bad to stay?
----
It was enough, he told you that he was going to give you time to think. But he couldn't risk letting you escape during the night. He knew that Shino was well aware that it had been you. Although he was slightly angry at him, he understood why he didn't say anything.
Either way, he joined Kakashi outside and he nodded. The two of them stared at the inn where you were staying. "Did you find out who she is?"
When he approached Kakashi he didn't say specifically who you were. No, he just to him that was something suspicious about you and that he needed to investigate further. Now that it was confirmed that it was indeed you, if he wanted Kakashis's hell, he had to tell him the truth. "It's," his chest ached to think about what he was about to do but he had no other option. "It's her, it's [Name]."
Kakashis's eyes widened at the information, unable to believe it. It had been so many years and now you arrived? Just when the Chūnin Exams was about to take place? "Why?"
The truth is, Kiba was not sure. That was definitely you, he couldn't deny it. But as much as he wanted to believe that you were back to see them and then leave didn't appeal to him. "She says that she wanted to see us, but..."
But he didn't believe you, he may have put on that act when you were telling him your story but he didn't really believe the reason why you were here. Besides, he had to take into consideration the risks...The danger you brought to the village. They saw how Kira had used you to give his ninja the ability to heal, and all the deaths that were left because of that.
Then the aftermath, it took years to fully recover from it. Kakashi must have the same thoughts, the was a frown on his face. "I'll stay on watch, but you have to realize that we need to inform the Hokage." He paused, "and what will happen to her is up him." And the council of course.
The two of them knew what would happen. With your abilities, they needed to not only keep you close but also retrained if it ever came to that. There was also the possibility that you could be taken into custody...
The worse thing though, it could be that you were in fact telling the truth. If that was the case and whatever Naruto and the council decided, you wouldn't be able to forgive the betrayal. Unless Naruto and the Council gave you a pardon, then there was really no need for their doubt to be told.
But if that wasn't the case, they were not sure how you take their actions.
