Broken Pieces (Naruto and Boruto Reader Insert)

Chapter 19

Tamaki wasn't acting like herself, Kiba noticed. It happened after Akamaru had been cured by none other than you.

She had noted that he was happier, and of course he was. To have Akamaru healthy, of course he was happy. How could he not?

But he didn't tell her anything, he didn't want to upset her. However, something had to be said when he watched her enter the inn where you were staring at. At first he was happy that you'll be able to meet her, and Tamaki had taken the initiative, and he was curious.

Just like it is said, curiosity killed the cat, and it did. Tamaki wasn't here to meet you, but to warn you to keep your distance. But even that, he let it go despite initially wanting to discuss it with her. He didn't face her and talked about it, he thought that it was best to leave it as it was.

However, after Momoshiki attacked and kidnapped you, it has not been the same. Not after he refused to listen to her, and tried to join the team that was going to find you. Even after Itachi, Goro, Naruto and Sasuke brought you back, she was still hesitant.

It was almost two weeks after that incident, and she...She hasn't...She has distanced herself, refusing to go on a date or just even go for a single walk. It didn't help that you were around everyone, and he noticed how happy you looked just to be home. He noticed a huge difference in your eyes, when you arrived, you would smile but your gaze seemed empty. Now though, the smile wasn't just with your lips, you smiled with your gaze.

But that was beside the point, now he was all dressed and he even passed by the flower shop and bought some flowers. If he wanted for this relationship to work, so, he was waiting for her to open the door of her home.

It took her longer than he had hoped but eventually, she opened it. Her eyes didn't brightened at the sight, normally she would whenever he showed up.  "Tamaki,"in fact, she looked tired, bringing the flowers to her, he was about to invite her but she shook her head.

She didn't speak but she moved aside to let him in. Once he was seating down, she sat opposite her. She ran her fingers through her hair and let out a long sigh. "We need to talk," how cliche that sentence was and yet, it made him frown hearing it from her.

"Talk about what?" Putting the flowers aside, Kiba questioned him.

She glanced at them, and she emailed sadly. "We both know."

[Name], she wanted to talk about her. " There's nothing...I don't understand."

"It took me almost twelve years for you to see me like I always wanted to be seen by you. But" she looked away, "it took her what? Three weeks? Kiba, I am not blind. During all these years I have never see you smile like you do whenever she is around. I...I can't compete with that. I just..." She stood up walking to the door but stoped before she reached it. "Maybe you're in denial, but you can't fool yourself in believing that she is just a friend. If I accept to continue to be with you, I... I'll just always be afraid that you'll.. "

In flash he was behind her, a hand on her shoulder. "Tamaki...What are you saying?"

He feared the worse, and sure enough, she uttered them. "I love you Kiba, and because I love you, I just want you to be happy. That's...That's why we should give ourselves sometime. If we really are meant to be together, then we will be, if not...As long as you're happy, so am I." She opened the door and motioned for him to leave, without even sending him a glance.

By now you were no longer staying in the inn, with the help of your friends, you managed to find a place to rest. Not only that, but Naruto and the council made a contral that you would stay until Momoshiki was captured or he no longer possed as a threat, and for that you would be paid.

You spend most of your days guarding Naruto, and while doing that, you meet with all of your friends. On your free time, you spend it helping Kanabe, Hikaru and even Nigth, who you met when you returned.

But most of the time you were always accompanied, that is, until you need to retire for the day.

What you didn't expect though, was the loud knocking on the door and when you opened it, for Tamaki to stumble, and yet not daring to enter. Her unfocused eyes landed on you, she raised her hand pointing at you. Before she spoke, a river of tears run down her cheeks along with a few hiccups. "This is all your fault," it isn't exactly said like that, her words are so slurred that you can barely understand her. "It's because of you that were not together!" As she slurred her words, she attempted to lunch you, her red eyes filled with rage.

You try to get her in, but she refused to do so, she responded by punching you as hard as she could. By her drunkeness, insults and curses keep firing blaming you for getting between their relationship which ended with it.

The insults may come from a drink Tamaki, but you've heard plenty of times that kids, drunk and the angry say the truth. And although she didn't really mean to say those words, that doesn't mean that's not how she feels.

You let her talk, her words despite not convincing yourself that she's drunk, settle heavily on your heart.  But as much as you hate to admit, and although you didn't lead Kiba on, or anything of the sort, you were the cause of their misfortune.

It's after a few minutes later that Neji, Itachi, Goro and Kakashi that arrive and take notice of Tamaki. Though from Goro's expression, it appeared that they had heard enough.

Kakashi took the initiative, and even with her struggling, he manages to take her away. The others remain silent, even Goro. "Are...Are you okay?"

Goro's voice distracted you from the pain and guilt that plagued at Tamaki's words. You smiled as you reasured him and the others in the process .You only nod as you head back into the apartment and retrieved the keys to lock the door. You continued your day as planned, but with the guilt added to the list.

You told yourself that Kiba and Tamaki needed time to sort their relationship out, but...

But it would only turn out to be the beginning of  more suffering.
