Chinning exams, they were about to take place and it was the best time to enter the village without looking out of place.

The place had changed quite a lot since you last saw it. It was a lot more modern, but it could also be that you spent most of your hidding in small and poor villages, and isolated places.

Sighing in content, you glance to the gate guards and smile. The two of them, Itzumo and Koketzu, still remain. You were not very close to them, but it felt so warm seeing their familiar faces.

As if sensing your gaze, Koketzu glanced to your form only for you to look away and contie walking without glancing back.

As expected, many people were walking around, some with their significant others and others just trying to do some errands. Children chased one another, gigling and simply laughing as they ran around.

The sight itself was not strange, you had seen many like this in other villages. But it didn’t compare to places that were close to your heart.

Your heart lunded against your ribcage, it has been so long since you felt this excited and happy. It was as if you could breathe without that aching in your chest.

The day was still young, but the first the first thing that you needed to do before you settled out to see everything.

There were so many inns but with the amount of visitors, the couple of inns you entered had been full. It had been around an hour since you set out to find a place, but so far you found nothing.

Even so, you continued in your search of finding an unoccupied room. “Excuse me,” when you left yet another inn and exited the place, someone called out to you.

You turned around, only to stand rigid. Twelve years have passed, but you could still recognize that scar across the bridge of his nose. And that kind and just so warm gaze of Iruka.

Wearing a mask over your face, you felt as if he was find out who you were. But could he? You made sure to conceal your chakra signature, otherwise you would have disguised yourself as someone else. You opened your lips to reply, but your throat felt so dry that you had clear your throat a couple of times. “Yes?”

Your mind screamed to move and leave as you saw recognition in his eyes. It was subdle, just a small frown which then turned into sadness. “ I couldn't help but notice   you entering several inns. Are you perhaps looking for a room?”

You took a deep and long breath, finally being ae to relax you nodded. That action could have been mistaken as a sign of relief but he must have taken it as a sign of exhaustion.

Hesitant, he began to walk and waited until you walked at his side until he continued to talk. “Most inns are filled, but there are a few that have a few rooms available. Though,” he stopped and scratched the back of his head, “they’re not on the best conditions. If that is not a big issue I can take you there.”

Maybe he felt your state but he avoided your gaze, as if he was avoiding it. “I am a traveler, that is the least of my concerns. I will be grateful if you take me there…..”

It took Iruka a moment before he really that you were expecting his name. The man laughed and rubbed the back of his neck in embarrassment. “Iruka, my name is Iruka. And you are?”

You hated how easy it was.for you to extend your arm and how that name rolled from your tongue.“[Fake Name], You’ve done it so many times that was was a habit of giving people fake names without a second of hesitation. The last thing was to frown now that you were not only seeing Iruka, but also talking to him.

“Alright, follow me.” That was the last anything was said as you both walked to this place. “So a traveler?”

Taking in your surroundings, you realized what he was referring to. It wasn’t the poorest place but not the fanciest either. Not like it matter, you were grateful not only for being here but also for being able to see a friend of yours. “Yeah, here and there. I heard the news about the Chuninin exams and well, I was close by so I decided to stick around.”

“Ah, I see. Well,”he stopped in front of the inn, and smiled, “it was nice meeting you but I should be going.” Though hr clearly hesitated, it was a few seconds but it was notisable.

In the end, offered you a smile and walked away. It was as if he had a feeling or even maybe hope that it was you, but he was probably crushed and once again when he realized that you were not…You. If only he knew.

Maybe by coming here was not such a great idea after all, but you couldn’t just continue hidding. If you did, you maybe able to heal any wounds, but you weren’t so sure how much your sanity could take.

After gazing at the direction where Iruka had left, you entered the inn and rented a room for an unspecified amount of time.

Once settled in, you headed out to explore the village. The first place you went to was the one place that Naruto loved the most, now that he was Homage you doubted he was there. But it would be a good place not only to remember the old times, but also because you hadn’t eaten since last night.

Since the village had changed a lot, you expected for Ichirachu Ramen to have changed as well but it remained the same. But with so many visitors, it was packed so you had to wait before a spot was open and you took a seat. Perhaps maybe would say that being here earring in public wasn’t such a great idea since you’ll be exposing your face to the public, you’ve mastered the arts of eating fast.

The place was too busy to even take notice of your face, so instead of just eating a bowl of ramen you are until you satisfied your hunger. You paid and were about to leave when someone else joined you.

Though the male didn’t say anything, he simply seemed to observe you. It took you a moment to recognize him since he had matured greatly. But that is definitely Shino Aburame, to be honest he has matured so much and so well too. You couldn’t see his eyes due to the glasses he wore but his new style revealed a lot more of his face and he wasn’t bad looking.

Putting aside that, you were happy to see another familiar face. “Is there something that I can help you with?” As you continued to walk, he followed.

“Perhaps it would be best to take this in a more private are, if you don’t mind.” The way he spoke, it was so serious that it made you stop for a second and conciser to leave. But doing that now would put more attention on you.

“Alright.”

In silence, you trailed behind the male until he took you to a very secluded area. He turned his head around as if making sure that no one was close by, he turned his attention to you. “I know who you are.”
