Neji needs some love!

----

An apology, you owed them that much, you acted accordingly with how fast everything happened and if you hadn't acted in time, they would have died.

Last night when they brought you back, they had assumed you had been sleeping, but you were awake. Although your body wasn't living, your mind was just barely grasping onto consciousness. So you heard parts of their conversation, there had been some spots that you had missed but you managed to put them together. They didn't discuss Ayato's location otherwise you would have already left.

Afterall, you had just woke up, it was noon already and you found out that last night a couple of teams had left. They were to far now, and no one was willing to tell you about his location so, you remained here.

When you woke up, you intended to apologize to Kakashi and Iruka, but they had left with the teams. Food and water was being served, but you didn't have the appetite right now, which was saying something.

Instead, you decided to just take a short walk, besides there was still the gossip about Sakura and Sasuke's marriage, so it was inevitable to hear their whispers as you walked by.

Just as you were seating down, Neji's voice called out to you. The male didn't smile very often, but he was generous enough to offer you a smile. "May I join you?"

Your gaze glanced to his hands, there was a plate of food and a cup of water. "Knock yourself out." Scooting lever on that tree log, you've come here plenty of times now that you've gotten familiar with it.

The male offered you the plate of food and the water. "You haven't eaten anything."

Not having the heart to reject it, you smiled and took both things but you placed them at your side. The scenery wasn't the best, the forest was just filled with tall trees, plants, birds and a few animals here and there. "Thank you," letting out a long breath, a sensation of peace washed over your body. "I was going to talk to Iruka and Kakashi but I found out they left a long with a few others last night."

"It won't take them long to return," but you knew that was a lie.

"I know everything," you told him, your throat felt a bit dry so you took the cup and swallowed some water. "I know it will take them a while to return. I just wanted to apologize, I-"

Neji's warm hand in his, though he wasn't facing you probably from embarrassment. "They were going to die, and you acted as fast as you could. I'm sure they understand."

Feeling Neji's hand on yours lifted some weigh off your shoulders. It felt nice to talk, to have someone to talk to. "I know but that doesn't change the fact that their lives won't be affected by it."

His faze shifted from the tall tree in front of the two of you to the hand he was holding. "Why?" It was a question that he wanted you to answer, he needed it. "Why can't you keep fighting to survive?"

Sadly looking at the Hyuga, you shook your head. "Neji please."

"No, I heard the others, I want to hear it from you. Why? You've fought so much before, why are you giving up now? You know you have us, you don't have to do this on your own."
Neji was not one to show his emotions, but he now he let those walls fall and showed how desperate he was.

Pulling your hand back, you stood up leaving the food and water he brought with him. "I just woke up from being since that tank for over ten months, it's almost another year lost." Getting frustrated, you began to pace around. "I'm so sick of this," you watched as he stood up, stopping your from pacing back and forth. "I know I am repeating it over and over, I know it feels like I am just complaining but I'm so sick of...If losing years of my life. I feel like I lost over fifteen years of my life," you stopped as you looked back, as to what your life consisted of. "My whole life has consisted of fighting, hiding...This isn't what I wanted, it's true I was curious about how it would be about being a Kunoichi. I did, but I wanted it to be on my own accord, but I found myself thrust into this life of misery. The truth is," frowning, you study Neji, "when I returned to the Hidden Leaf Village, I was so happy to see all of you but when I saw everyone moving on, having their own families, I was also so jealous. I want a normal life, to have someone to love, to have my own children, to...To have a family. But as long as I am this, this..." The years that stained your cheeks were not of sadness but out of rage. "That desire will never come to reality."

"It can be," Neji stepped forward.

"No," you took a step back, "Kabuto has not told anyone about who injected into my bloodstream," if you told them maybe they would just accept your choice. "Momoshiki is alive that had been his order." Swallowing hard, you watched as he furrowed his eyebrows. "Do you know how I feel? Whatever it is they're planning, they won't stop until they obtain it. So," forcing yourself to take deep breaths, once you stopped the years, you cleaned them. "If I die, there will be no more pursuing, no more running away and no more hiding."

You attempted to walk last him, only for Neji to grab your wrist and slam his lips with yours. The kiss only stopped for a few seconds, when he pulled back, he was only just a few centimeters away from you. "[Name], you don't need to be alone." His hands moved to your shoulders, keeping his body against yours. "I kept my feeling to myself, but you know what I always hoped for?" He asked you, leaving you stunned. "I always hoped that one day I could form a family of my own but with you, to have children of our own and to grow old at your side."

For a moment all you could do was stare at his chest, you didn't have the strength to look at him in the eye. But he lifted your chin, "I am madly in love with you, I've tried to accept your choice because I know how much you suffered. I know you are in pain and you are tired of it. But please keep fighting, fight for your life and let me make you happy."

What could you tell him? Instead, he tilted your head and kissed you again. Your chest clenched in pain at the thought of how much pain you were also causing to them. Slowly you returned his kiss, it was gentle, he shows you with that kiss how desperate he was, and if course, how much he loves you. Pulling away, he smiled at you and then stepped back. "Please, please think about my proposal. With a last kiss, he turned on his heal and left you to your thoughts.

Crying, you let yourself to take your former seat. He wasn't the only one to make you a proposal, and he probably already knew that. You didn't kiss him because you wanted to fuel his feelings, or to give him hope.

You wanted, you so wanted to grasp into that happiness that they were offering you. They were amazing, kind and loving men. There was no doubt that if you accepted one of their proposal, they would follow your into the ends of time. But you couldn't be that selfish, as long as you remained alive there will always be people who would not rest until they obtained what they wanted. That would only put them in danger, and you didn't want them to drag then into your life which was filled with despair, and pain.
