The following morning, as expected, you were visited but you were not expecting to see Kiba. The male wasn't even looking at you, he looked at the ground like a kicked puppy. "Morning Kiba, do you need anything?"

He didn't reply, and for a good reason. Whatever he was thinking was probably a hard decision since his eyebrows were furrowed. Letting out a long sigh, he finally raised his head. "I'm sorry."

Raising an eyebrow, you were about to question him about what but then it clicked that it was about exposing your arrival. "Kiba..." You were hurt, but you understood why he did it and quite honestly, you could not stay angry with him.

"Don't say anything, just hear me out." He ran his fingers through his hair. "I'm really sorry, you confided in me and the first thing I did was telling Naruto. I'm sorry a doubted you, I'm sorr-"

Reaching forward, you placed a hand on his shoulder. He looked so guilty, and sad. "It's okay, I was hurt by it but I understand why you did it. With the news that Sasuke brought with him, it's understandable that you were worried and you had to take measures."

"But Shino didn't," tell anyone, that's what he didn't finish. Shino wasn't as close to you and yet he had kept it to himself.

What Kiba didn't know what that deep down he did it because he knew you would leave. He was worried of your departure and the dangers that you would face. "Although you still have yet to realize it, you unconsciously did in your own way to protect me."

His eyes widened and he took your words and analyzed them. His lips pursed, "even so, that choice was for you to make and I made it for you. So I hope you can forgive me."

Shaking your head, you pulled your hand back and if you had looked at Kiba's gaze you would have seen how his frowned with the lack of it. "You don't need my forgiveness, with   attack I would have exposed myself either way. So in any case, no damage done."

Finally he smiled, "you're so kind hearted you know that? Anyway, the council and  the Kages were in a meeting and Naruto wants to speak with you. Come," he motioned for you to follow.

"By the way, I haven't seen Akamaru with you since I arrived." It wasn't a direct question, but an direct one.

Maybe it was urgent, which was why you both rushed there but upon your words he slowed down. With how downcast he looked, it wasn't good. "He's old now and he's not doing so well. He has been very sick lately, and I'm afraid he won't make it by the end of the year. “Before you knew it, you both were there and he didn't seem like he didn't want to talk about that topic. "I have to go, but I'm glad we sorted things out." He hesitated , but he left soon after.

You were ushered inside the Hokage's office. Naruto was behind the desk, with piles of documents occupying the surface of said desk. Shikamaru was standing at his side, talking to him as they read the file.

They were too busy that they didn't even take their eyes away from the documents when you entered and even take a seat down. You watched them work in silence, amused. It was quite mesmerizing to see them both work, despite Naruto being so mature, so responsible. And Shikamaru at his side.

As  mesmerizing scenario was, you were here for a reason and you had to know. "Naruto?" Finally you asked, now they shifted your gaze to you.

"[Name], good morning!" As if he had been saved, he jumped from his seat with a wide grin only to be pushed down on his chair.

"Just because she's here doesn't mean you get to slack off." Shikamaru's gaze turned to you. "It was time you showed up. Did Kiba explain about the meeting?"

"Just who attended it but not about it. Why am I here?"

Naruto leaned back on his chair. "Before we get to start about that topic, I'll like to thank you for what you did during the attack." His energy died down a bit, now he looked calmed and collected.

"You don't need to thank me Naruto," you were explaining but he was having none of that.

"I do, despite everything that's happened  to you, that's the least we owe you." He looked almost sad, but it wasn't his fault, he had tried to convince the council but the council were not easy to convince.

"Either way, thank you." This time Shikamaru cut in, “but moving on to the matter at hand, the Kages and the council had a meeting this morning. Since it is clear that Momoshiki is after Naruto's, or better yet, Kurama's chakra, this will not be the last time we see Momoshiki. That's why it has been decided that, if you still wish to stay, you will be providing Naruto with protection."

But Naruto didn't look pleased and it was probably because he didn't like the idea of putting you in danger. "I tried to convince them otherwise, but they wouldn't have any of that."

"And for a good reason," Shikamaru crossed his arms across his chest. "As you already know, Momoshiki's ability is to steal powers. But it seems that ability doesn't work on you."

For a good reason, your chakra was toxic and it was once toxic to your own body. Had it not been for Kabuto, you wouldn't be alive today. Which reminded you of visiting the male whenever you get the chance. "I understand, and I completely agree with you. I do whatever I can to help."

"Good," Shikamaru had taken reins of the conversation, "initially the council wanted to have you guarding him 24/7, but you're not immortal and you need rest. Which is why you'll be taking the night shift, since it's when he will be the most vulnerable."

"Alright, I can handle that." You thought that was all that they were going to discuss, until Orochumaru crossed your mind and you sat down again. "By the way, I met Orochumaru. Is it true he's allowed to stay?"

Shikamaru glanced at Naruto, and they just glanced at one another as if not wanting to be the bearer of bad news. Concirering that he had been the one who brought hell upon you, no doubt you wouldn't be pleased. And by the look on your face, it wasn't.

"It is," Naruto admitted letting most of his weight be supported by the chair. "When you left to fight ---, Izina, Obito, and --- turned out to be very strong opponents. And there were still  plenty of Shinobi who we needed to deal with. He just appeared and joined us, since then he has shown guilt and had been very helpful."

"We understand how you must feel," Shikamaru tried to explain, but for a few seconds he seemed to have difficulty trying to find the right words.

Shaking your head, you finally rose to your feet. "As much as I hated him, if he had helped the village and feels remorse I can at least tolerate him. I just wanted to make sure that it was true, so don't worry.'

They remained silent but they still studied you, as if expecting something else. "Is there anything else you want to discuss before I leave?"

"That's right," Naruto spring to his feet when Shikamaru wasn't paying attention. "Two young men arrived, Kanabe, Hikaru, Nigth are their names, the say you know them."

Hikaru,  Nigth and Kanabe? Hikaru....Narrowing your gaze, you looked at the ground trying to remember those names. Upon realization, your eyes widened in shock. "They're here." It was so shocking that you sat, once again, down on the chair. You never expected to see them again to be honest.

"Is everything okay?" Naruto asked about to reach out, but you shook your head that you were indeed alright.

"I'm shocked...I do know them, but I didn't expect them to look for me." You revealed to them.

"How do you know them?" You didn't say anything about them when you arrived.

"Kanabe,  I met him about 8 years ago, he was just around eight. I found him very wounded and after I cured him, he told me his own people tried to kill him. I met Hikaru four years ago, he was an orphan and as it can be expected, was abused mentally and physically. They abused him so much that he was also close to being killed. Like Kanabe, I found him and helped him. As much as I would have liked to have them around and take care of them, I couldn't put them in danger. That's why I found them a good place where they could be taken care of.  That's why I am surprised, did they say why they're here?"

"They say they have been looking for you, they want to be your disciples."

They came all the way here for that? "I don't think I'm the best person for that kind of thing. Specially now, I won't be able to guide them properly." How would you tell them that when you saw them? They traveled so far only for you to reject them?

"You're not giving yourself enough credit, if you weren't capable of doing so they wouldn't be here." Shikamaru tried to lift your spirits up.

The bright smirk appeared on Naruto as he nodded. "Shikamaru is right, despite the short amount of time you spent with them influenced them greatly. They seem like nice kids, despite the rough childhood they had. If anything, you're definitely more than capable be teaching them."

The way they smiled, made you mirror their smiles. Maybe they were right, and if you needed help there there others who would be more than willing to help. Nodding, finally you stood up. "You guys are right, and now I am really leaving and I'll let you guys continue with your work."

Before Naruto protested, you left the office but on your way out you heard Naruto groan as he continued to work on the piles of documents.

Feeling happier, you decided to continue with the day. There were several things you had to take care of before you went home and took some rest before you started with the night shift.
