Kabuto sat at your side, the two of you in complete comfortable silence. It has been a couple of hours since you started your night shift and Kabuto showed up a few minutes ago. But after the two of you greeted each other, the two haven't said much, other than what you had been up to and what he had been doing for the past twelve years. Which was taking care of the orphanage.

"I'm really happy you returned," finally he broke the silence. It was as if he was thinking in what he was going to say, and he was debating it. "But you didn't intend to, did you?"

Maybe he wasn't aware of those news? Shaking your head, you turn your head slightly to observe him. "No, not particularly. But here I am."

"Do you plan to stay?" Kabuto was not an easy person to read, or at least he didn't used to be. But now it was easier to read him, specially since you were one of the few people who got to know him on a more personal level.

"I don't know," letting out a long sigh, you have the urge to just lean back but there's nothing behind you to support your back. Your eyes trail to the sky and watch the stars above you, making you relax a little. "You once told me I was going to age slower than the rest," you start, "but I found out that it's worse than that."

He shifted in his seat a but, before he seemed to have found a much more comfortable position. "What do you mean, you found out?" It seemed like he had a certain edge to his tone. But it wasn't like he was angry or blaming you, it almost felt as if he was the one who felt guilty.

You almost winced, knowing that he wouldn't be pleased with how much you exposed yourself. "People claimed they could find a cure, and I was desperate. So I agreed with them," only resulting in pain but he must have figured it out, "until I found Hachiro. He was the one who told me about the aging process, that it had stopped. " But he stopped you.

"He told you that any aging cells were replaced by new ones, didn't he?" With a nod, you replied. "If that's the case, you won't be able to age, or at least not until we find a cure."

"But that's not all, when things finally calmed down and I was ready to return...He told me that if I wanted to form a family, have children of my own it would be possible but...."

"Your body would get rid of it, it wouldn't recognize the baby as part of it, and would take it as a threat." Kabuto already knew it. "But if when you're ready to have a child, we can monitor and help you. You didn't have to be alone for all those years, if you had come to me I would have helped you."

You could see how his shoulders drop, and not it for the news. , "I know but I heard about what you had accomplished. I didn't," but again, he didn't let you finish.

"You wouldn't have intruded, if anything-"

"The past is the past," you exhaled, "I can't do anything now." You paused and turned to face him, he says that he could work on some kind of cure. "Will it really be possible? To find a cure?"

He hesitated, "I can't really say... It's hard to weaken an immune system that is strong as yours. But we won't know unless we try."

Kabuto had changed over the years, he looked kinder as if helping the orphanage had changed him. But right now you couldn't ignore the guilt in his eyes, and you knew why.

He must have been thinking that you were in this situation because of him and Orochimaru. If he hadn't helped him, you would have lived like a normal person without the worry of never aging and probably never having children.

Slowly you grabbed his hand, earning his attention. You smiled at him, hoping that he could see that you didn't blame him for any of it. "Stop it," his gaze looked away ashamed, "this isn't your fault. Things happened and well, as much as I hate these abilities I wouldn't have been able to protect those that I love. It's just...Hard trying to imagine being like this but it's a matter of getting used to it."

But you were lying, you would never get used to the idea of seeing everyone else age while you remained the same. Kabuto could see it, he pulled his hand away and stood up. "That's a lie and we both know it. Just know that I won't stop until we find something, that is a promise."

He didn't give you enough time to react as he banished from your sight. That was the last thing you wanted, you didn't want him to blame himself for it. Things...Things just happened because they were meant to happen. Besides, with how many times he saved your life, that was more than enough to forgive him. Not that he needed that, you forgave him a very long time ago.

For the next hour, you were surprised by another visit, Konohamaru. A large grin was on his face as he, without an invitation, made himself comfortable at your side.

You saw some bags, but you didn't know what they were until he began to take out bento boxes. "I thought that maybe you'll be hungry," but even with the lack of light, you could see his blush.

"Thank you, I didn't really think of bringing anything to eat so I appreciate it." You took the boxes he offered to you, now it was your turn to blush. He came prepared knowing just how much you had to eat. His response was a content smile, but before he dug in, he looked to the side.

But before the question left your lips, you sensed Sasuke's chakra close by. But he didn't attempted to get closer or to announce his arrival. "What is he doing here?" Konohamaru mumbled but be must have realized that Sasuke had been tasked on guard duty as well. "Well, dig in."

You didn't have to be told, you immediately began to eat. The way the food began to disappear made you realize just how hungry you were. Konohamaru on the other hand, simply watched you eat.

When the two of you were finished, he handed you a cup of warm tea. "Can I ask what this is all about?"

Rather curious, you questioned him. Konohamaru almost spilled the tea upon your question, what calmed him down was just scratching his head. "Well," he started, "just wanted to talk to you. I...I'll have to be honest, I was shocked and excited? I'm not sure if that would be the correct word to use. But, well,umn...I was very impressed with you when we first met but was completely shocked to hear who you were."

"You remembered who I was?" Because you didn't realize got to stick around that much.

He nodded, taking a sip from his tea. "I did, Naruto always spoke about you when I was a kid until a few years ago. So yes, I remember who you are."

It was really cute and adorable to be as to see Konohamaru as an adult. To see how much he has grown and matured. "Well, now that we know who are... It's really nice being able to see how much you have grown and progressed."

Upon your words, he blushed a again, he just hoped you didn't see it. He earned his throat, "thank you...You...ugh...I was really, really surprised." That wasn't what he wanted to say, no. "Anyway, I also heard the news about the Kazekage and everyone is talking about it."

He laughed as you groaned. "Yes,  I've heard."

Konohamaru stopped and glanced at his cup, after a few seconds he swallowed it's contents. "I'll be honest [Name], the night I met you I was really surprised and... Interested. That's why I invited you to eat the following day, I know it may seem rather... Strange but, I really find you very interesting and I would like to get to know you better. I understand that the Kazekage has declared what he feels for you and although I do not feel as strongly as he does, all I am asking if to give me the opportunity to get to know you better."

With widened eyes, you stared at the male who had gathered the courage to tell you. Now that answers why he had invited you to eat the following day he met you and now why he showed up with homemade food. "You don't need to say anything, just think about it okay?" Without taking the bento boxes, he jumped from Naruto's home and banished into the night.

The confession didn't leave blushing or nervous. Not that you didn't find Konohamaru attractive, he was and incredibly sweet. But his confess made you feel that maybe Orochumaru wasn't so wrong about what he said.

Konohamaru and Gaara weren't married, so there really was no problem if you have yourself the opportunity to accept either confession. But what if...Shaking your head, you take a sip of the tea, with the cold now robbing its heat, it didn't taste as good.

Maybe you were overthinking it, and maybe you were worrying about nothing at all.
....

...
...

But a pair of black eyes had observed the scene, and he didn't need to bear about what Konohamaru told you. If Konohamaru brought you food, it was for something and the blush, and how nervous he acted only proved his suspicion.

Two people, two had already declared themselves to you and you had been here for such a short amount of time.

As he watched you from afar, he couldn't stop the feeling of jealousy crawling into his heart.
