A welcome, it was what Naruto planned and yet you knew that this welcome was not going to be a warm one. The shouts, the curses and of course, the throwing of rocks was what you expected. Naruto didn't see this coming, not that it would wound you, but Naruto would have none of that a d stepped in front of you protecting you from those rocks flying towards you.

However, as soon as he stepped in front of you, and these rocks hit him instead, everyone just...Just froze for several reasons. Ninja surrounded the Hokage to protect him, and they all stopped because of what they had done; they unintentionally attacked their Hokage.

"Please," Naruto stepped back , turning his head to the side just a little bit and offered a smile when he noticed your worried and angry expression on your face. Although he could also heal faster than others, trails of blood adorned his face and side of his face. "I cannot excuse these deaths," he then proceeded to grab your hand and tugged you forward. Those in front of him were dismissed as Naruto dismissed them. Now the two of you were once again in full display, this time Naruto showing his further support. "The deaths of your loved ones,  no amounts of apologies will ever repair what has already been done. All I ask you, the people of the Hidden Leaf Village is to take it in your hearts and  think," this time he paused to look at you again, his expression softened and his eyes were so full of warmth. "Most of you, if not all of you know her story, know to the lengths she went through to end this war. She did it knowing that she was sacrificing her very own life, she was willing to do it in order to save many others."

There were a few who mumbled something, but since they did it at the same time, it was hard to understand it. "If you are to blame someone for these deaths, then blame us all." Naruto's hold tightened, "we were not fully prepared, we failed our people and we failed her. Had we been more prepared, that man wouldn't have taken her  when she was vulnerable and confused. It was because of our unpreparedness that she was taken advantage of."

"Is that really true?" One man stepped forward, his gaze shifted from Naruto to you, though his gaze hardened. "She should have had questions, doubted that man before she killed hundreds of innocent ninja."

No excuse, you had none. "He was the only person to provide her with questions. She was confused and scared, the only person who knew about her was him. He offered her protection, and reassurance when there was non one else. We were at war and," almost, Naruto almost looked as if he wanted to hug you."

"And what?" Again the very same man asked, "all of these are just excuses! These excuses cannot bring my daughter back to life."

"But I can." This time you stopped Naruto, you appreciated the he was standing up for you but you needed to do this. "Like Naruto said, I can apologize for eternity but that does not change what I have done. I will forever live  knowing that I have killed many innocent people. I cannot go back in time, I can't." Taking a deep breath you continued, "but I can bring them back to life. Is that what you want me to do?"

"[Name]... Please." Naruto attempted to stop you.

But that made  the man speechless, trying to register that you had offered to bring his daughter back to life. But then an older woman, maybe around her seventies stepped forward.  "Child," her eyes were warm despite all she had lived and experienced. "That is not how life works, that would mean to cheat death." Her eyes studied you a moment before she faces the previous man. "You are not the only one who have lost a loved one during a war. That is how wars are, people die."

"Die?" The man growled, "do you know how painful it is to see my daughter's murder? How would you?"

"But I do," the woman replied this time referring to everyone, "I do know. My son and grandson died..." Some people from the crowd joined her,  probably more grandchildren and even her very own children, "they died during one of your attacks. This man may call you their killer but he is too blinded to see the truth. The truth is, that man used you as his weapon and although he argued that you should have questioned him, is it really that simple?" She hugged her family and smiled, "It is easy to assume that if we were in your shoes we would have done differently, but that isn't the case. Our pain is blinding us and we are simply seeing what we want to see. Tell me, do you have any more children?"

Everyone nodded, "we are so focused on how many she killed but we are not seeing the bigger picture. Had it not been for her, yet once again, sacrificed her life, this war would have not ended yet. We would have lost many more of our loved ones, thanks to her and those brave criminals, as you call them. They helped end this war and quite honestly, to me, they're all heroes." The older woman and her family bowed her head, "and for that we thank you and we are happy to conciser you as one of our own."

It was all she had to say, she along with her family walked away. Some people watched her and her family leave probably her words repeating in their minds. The way most people spooked at the ground, her words touched their hearts.

"You're all in pain, we're all still recuperating and I understand you all need time to heal. However, we cannot just give our backs to the people who were essential to end this war."

Naruto was about to continue to speak, but someone from the crowd spoke instead. "Lord Hokage, you have our full support and we gladly welcome Miss [Name] to our Village."

That was what started a wave of people agreeing, the man who had initially made his voice heard, only looked at the ground. But a woman and a small child approached the man, the woman spoke to him pointing to her son. It took him about a minute which concisted of him staring at his son then embracing his family and then tears. He hugged his son tighter, and then finally, he among the wave of agreements, he looked at you. His wife joined him too, a small nod. It was a nod of 'We forgive you.'

Everyone seemed to be more lively, which  prevented Naruto from ending his speech. But he was more than happy, as be pulled you towards him and hugged you. Hugging you, it was something the made had been doing quite a lot since you arrived.

"See?" Among the loud cheers, Naruto managed to say. "You're home. " As he uttered as he pulled back, his hands grasping your face. Even if you wanted, you couldn't see who was watching but with how much noise there was, you guessed everyone was busy. What captivated you was those blue eyes of Naruto and that big grin of the Hokage. It had been such a long time since you've seen the carefree and just...To see that warmth in Naruto's expression. you're... Finally...you're home."

It was as if he was still having difficulty believing that you were here in front of him, that you were not just a fragment of his imagination and he had to make sure that you were real. To prove that he wasn't imagining it, he kissed you. He kissed you without caring that he was in front of everyone, in front of his people. He wasn't scared that people were watching the two do you.

Though he must have realized it, and be pulled back blushing but he only pulled away. He grabbed your hand once again and continued to smile.

But...There was someone who had seen it, and you locked eyes with said person. Your heart filled with guilt when your locked eyes with Hinata. The person who had loved Naruto since they were very young, the person who then became his wife and have him two beautiful children.

They may be divorced but that didn't mean that she didn't love him. This only made you feel like the worse person in the world.  Maybe...Maybe you weren't the kind person that everyone thought you were.
