By the way, Sarada, Boruto and a few others joined you, it was clear that Naruto, Gaara and Sasuke were alive. A big sigh of relief left your lips as you stood up, and walked towards them. Momoshiki stood up, but he just leaned against the tree trunk and watched you closely.
"They're alive, aren't they?" Sarada didn't look happy, not because she wasn't elated by the news.
"I'm sorry," she apologized, "I acted before taking into consideration that they could be alive and then," she rubbed her arm, but Sakura hugged her sideways to reassure her. "I'm sorry, I should have waited and we should have left you undisturbed, to live the life you wanted."
She really matured, she had grown so much, but from the looks of it, she wasn't the only one. Boruto, and a few others too. It wasn't such a big surprise, they had to endure a war, so they were forced to mature. "It's okay, I can hide and pretend that all is fine. But it was only a matter of time before I realized that as long as the war isn't over, I can't live the life I want." This time, you glanced at Shinki, "his is the Sand Village?"
The male had an unreadable expression on his face, so you couldn't entirely say what he was thinking. "Same condition as the Leaf Village, most villages are. And I'm afraid that until we don't find about the real enemy, everyone is at risk."
Again, if you had listened to what Ayato had to say...None of this would happen. Looking away, and with your eyebrows furrowed, you thought of what else to do.
"No, and stop that." Kiba stepped forward, a deep frown settled on his expression.
"Bringing that man alive is the worse that we can do," Neji added, which made you raise your gaze. They were not reading their minds or yours, they knew you so well that they knew what was running through your mind.
"He won't do anything unless he gets what he wants, as were not going t-" Yaniko emerged from the group, "why are we even discussing this in the first place?"
"For now, we should just try to keep the Village safe and continue to our search for the Kages and Sasuke. Teams have already been dispatched to find whomever is responsible for," Minato let out an exhale, "this war to Continue."
It wasn't that that concerned them, anyone could take advantage of the vulnerability of the villages. What bothered them was that whomever it was, it was much more powerful because they had afterall, manipulated Ayato.
That was when it hit you, could it be? "Wait," you glanced back at Momoshiki then back at the others. "I...back when Ayato pretended to be my..." It made you wince, "husband, we had some visitors. Among them was Momoshiki, Kawaki and a man named Jigen. I didn't think much of it, by the way Ayato treated them..."
Momoshiki walked forward, almost rolling. "Before you ask," he directed that to you as if the others were not worth to ask him. "His goal was get you and that boy, Kawaki to create a human child if my plan didn't work."
"What is wrong with all of you?" Ino crossed her arms around her chest, a look of disgust clearly on her face. "How can you all make plans, plans that involve [Name]. She isn't...An animal that you can use to...And you all think humans are so lowly."
"But she is not just any human," he sneered at her, "you lowly creature."
"That's enough," right now what you all needed was for them to talk about that, someone that had no place in the current discussion.
"Kawaki, he was with that man?" Boruto seemed heartbroken, as last memories flashed in front of him.
"Do you know him?" Finally you asked curious.
Shikamaru nodded, his eyes glued on Boruto's back. "We was a very young boy that Team seven found, and Naruto took him in. From what we gathered, someone had experimented on him for years."
Despite the years that passed, you couldn't help but flinch. Though, it was so small that you hoped no one noticed it, for the sake of Kabuto. He no doubt felt so much regret for all the years of experiments that you were exposed to. You could imagine all the pain that Kawaki went through, he must have been alone if it was from such a young age. No wonder his gaze was just so...Faraway, dead even..as if he had given up on life. "How did, why is he with that man?"
Letting out a long breath, Iruka shook his head. "Unfortunately, after a few years, he simply banished and no matter how much we searched for him, he did not find him. Poor boy, he must have been out through so much more pain."
"Is Jigen a powerful man and capable to cause all this destruction?" Tobimara interrogated Momoshiki, though the man ignored Tobimara. It was until you asked him again that he decided to speak.
"He had the Kamā seal," his gaze shifted towards Boruto, "which Kawaki and you have."
Did Boruto even know? From the surprised look on him, he didn't. "What is it?"
"You're both vessels for the Ōtsutsuki Clan' chakra and if successful, then you're considered as a perfect Ōtsutsuki Clan member. And to answer your question, yes, yes they are."
"Then," the news seemed to finally return some color to their faces. Now they had a name, and a face, they'll be able to find them. Though, Kawaki, you felt bad for him. "We should get started then."
All of those times when Kawaki would join you, now it made you think. Maybe he was silent, but he had willingly spent time close with you, on his own. Perhaps it was a.way of him to ask for help? Maybe he knew about your past and he felt like you would understand him because you went through the same thing. Unfortunately, he found himself on the wrong side and it was probably not willingly.
He was so young when he was taken away, if he wasn't filled with hatred for the world before, maybe he was now. He may be an adult, but that does not change how heavily all his experiences had impacted his life and not for good. Though, maybe not all was lost.
Something, something told you that he wasn't completely lost. When you first woke up and he was the first person alive you saw, he had been completely honest with you. With how sensitive things were right now, by the end of the war, he would end up either killing so many people or he would end up being killed.
He didn't have anyone to be there e for him for most of his life, maybe that was what he needed. Perhaps if there was someone to remind him that he wasn't alone and that he didn't have to do this any more, then maybe his view of life could be changed. Boruto seemed to have been close to him, and maybe Naruto's family is what Kawaki needed now. But before that happened, you would have to listen to what he had to say. The last thing you wanted was for something like what happened between Naruto and Sasuke to happen all over again.
Besides, you couldn't stay in any village as much as everyone else wanted. Everyone started to talk among themselves, which was a perfect opportunity to get away. With a last look of longing, you turned to Momoshiki and as if he read your mind, he nodded and the two of you were gone.
Again, once again you decided to disappear. You left everyone behind so worried, knowing that you would once again take this in your own hands despite Kakashis' encouraging words.
But, you were just so hardheaded sometimes and there was no one who was able to stop you.
