Now that you were able to move more freely, you went to find your parents' home. It took you about half an hour but you eventually found it, however, you had to hide your face inorder not to be seen. They were just enjoying the sun outsider, seating on rocking chairs, your father holding your mother's hand.
They were obviously older, but not too old as to look like your grandparents. But as you observed them, it felt like an eternity since you last saw them. The letter your father once gave you, you were dead to them but did they...Did they sometimes wonder what happened to you? Where or what you were up to?
Besides from the chatter and everyone's steps, a set stopped at your side. "Are you okay?" As if reading your mind, Kakashi asked.
Smiling sadly, you shake your head. "It's hard to believe that we used to be a very tight family, always cared for one another. But, the past is the past I'm just happy that they're fine and that they're happy." Staring at them for a few more second, you then proceed to turn your attention to Kakashi. You smiled not sure how to greet him, with a hug or not. In the end you decided not to do it you didn't want to make him feel uncomfortable. "You and Iruka haven't changed at all, it's like time stopped for the two of you."
"You matured, as much I expected but you have considering your ability."
"I guess," motioning with your hand for him to follow, you started to walk. "Like I told Naruto, it's so good to see you all."
It's hard to decipher what Kakashi is thinking, but most of them time he answers are rather laid back and calm. But, from the lack of response from him, he wasn't entire here to see you.
"Why are you here Kakashi?" Nothing good, if Kakashi and not to welcome you, then it definitely wasn't good.
Kakashis's eyes locked on yours, though no matter how much you tried to guess what was going through his mind. "The Hokage spoke with the council, but he wasn't able to fully convince them. The council made a choice, you'll have to be in custody until the Chūnin Exams are over."
Since you returned, you tried to remain calm and understanding. But you felt so angry, you felt that no matter what you did you probably would never prove yourself to the council. Naruto tried, even as the Hokage he still had to follow some sort of laws or rules.
Maybe you definitely should not have come back. It would have been better for everyone, maybe it would also be best for you too. "So you're here to escort me?"
"Yes," the silver haired male studied you, and from the expression of your face be already knew what was going through your head.
"Let's go then." Where was he going to take you? Would they even go as far as to take you to their prison, would they?
You didn't ask Kakashi, you just allowed him to take you to where ever you were supposed to be taken. Which was a simple and ordinary house. "Initially the council wanted to place you into the Strict Correctional prison, however, the Hokage was able to convince them. A room is provided for you, but you will be guarded and not allowed to leave."
As if on cue, Neji and Lee appeared, obviously being in charge of guard duty. Neji's gaze lingered on you longer than Lee's, who despite the situation wanted to rush and hug you. But he settled by just sending you a smile, you did the same though they could see the sadness in it.
Kakashi lead you inside the house, which was a very small room with a bed and a small toilet room. Probably this place was rented quite cheaply, and for single people. When you entered, Kakashis's gaze lingered on your face, "After this, you don't intend to stay do you?"
The other two were standing behind him, but you decided to seat on the bed and lean against the wall. "It's hard to say since so far the village hasn't given me a reason to. But k suppose it's reasonable, I left they need to make sure that I don't bring any harm. Tell Naruto that I won't scape, be was very kind in welcoming the last thing I want is to cause him trouble."
As much as it hurt to have to be treated like this, you were not a kid anymore. You knew how things worked, and that applied to returning. The Hokage, in this case Naruto, and the council had to look for the village's safety. They couldn't just accept someone who disappeared twelve years ago just like that. That was a big time gap and anything could have happened during that time.
For now you had to stay until the Chūnin Exams. Then it was a matter time, time to see if you felt like somewhere where you could call home. Or if you didn't bring unnecessary trouble to the village, if so, you'll have to flee again and maybe never return.
----
Outside the door you could sense Neji' and Lee's chakra signature. At first you weren't able to distinguish them, you had to get familiar with them.
But then another chakra signature approached, and again, you were not able to recognize it. During the years it was hard to remember their faces and well, their chakra signature as well.
There were hushed voices until the door was unlocked and opened. TenTen entered the room and clearly not happy. "I can't believe they'll do this to you."
She extended her arms and tugged you off the bed into her arms. She hugged you tightly, rubbing her hands on your back as if trying to sooth all the pain away.
You turned the hug, feeling lighter with her presence. "It's so good to see you," once you pulled back, your eyes scanned her face. It was so odd seeing them getting older, and more mature.
TenTen smiled back. "It's good to see you too," she took a seat on the bed dragging you along. "I'm sorry things...Went this way. As much as I hate the idea of not knowing if you had returned, it was a decision for you to make not Kiba's."
"I'm sot sure why he did it, I want to convince myself that maybe he was indeed worried for me. But deep down I feel like he didn't completely trust me." You admitted, looking at the door knowing that the other two were probably there. It was better this way, you wouldn't have to repeat yourself over and over.
TenTen looked sad. "Maybe a bit of the two. With the Chūnin Exams now taking place, we can't take any chances. But he truly cares for you, I'm just... Really upset that he would have any doubts after all we have be through together. I hope you can forgive him."
"I understand everything, it just, I can't help it getting to me you know?" Letting out a long sigh, you rubbed your face. " This is just very frustrating."TenTen remained silent for about a minute, so you raised your gaze to look at her. "What's wrong?"
Her lips parted as if to speak, but no words came out. "I'm not even supposed to tell you, but I think it's only fair for you to know exactly why you're here."Letting out a long exhale, she continued. "This is not...A small matter, although a part of you disappearing has something to do with it, there's something else." Instead of just taking a sit, she stood up and pused back and forward. "You should know that although Sasuke married Sakura, and the two of them have a daughter...He left a bit around eleven years ago. So he came back about a week ago, and he arrived with news. He warned Naruto that the Village would be attacked during the Chūnin Exams, so you can imagine...That your arrival has only raised red flags."
Again you tried to stay calm because you understand, you told youself that you had to be understanding. They couldn't be risk the village but..."They think I'll attack the village?"
This time Lee and Neji opened the door and entered, probably feeling that they too should be part of the conversation. "The council does," Neji added as he closed the door.
"Yeah, Naruto tried to convince the council that you wouldn't do such a thing. But unfortunately, this was all he could do." Lee walked to stand beside TenTen, or at least, that's all he could do since the room was very small.
Deep breaths, deep breaths, you couldn't let the anger get the best of you. You just hoped that it was the council and not your friends thinking that you would attack the village. If they did...It would be heartbreaking to even think about it. "I would never do anything like that, I just hope you all know that."
TenTen punched your shoulder playfully, mostly to break the tense atmosphere. "Of course we don't, you idiot. How could we?"
That was such a good relief. "Thank you, it means a lot to me." Glancing at the three of them, first there was Neji who was the closest one, you hugged him and then you moved to Lee. "You guys have no idea how much I missed you guys."
"We missed you too and we're glad you came back." Shaking her hands, TenTen moved to the door, "you probably are hungry so I'll go ahead and get something to eat." With that she left, the other males remained inside.
Lee glanced to Neji, and as if something occurred to him, he scratched his head. "I...ugh, I think TenTen is going to need my help." Without even carinng, he rushed to catch up to TenTen despite his duty to guard you.
Neji didn't pay him any mind, he just kept staring at you. "You didn't have to be alone, you know that?" Finally he revealed what was eating him up.
"I know, and I'm sorry. It was the best I could." What could you do, you did what you thought was the best even if you hurt your friends in the process.
It was a subtle movement, but it seemed as if Neji was hesitant into reaching forward. "I just want you to know that whatever decision you make, you're not alone even if you decide not to stay." His eyes stared at your hand, as if he wanted to reach for it. But he turned around and left the room.
He wasn't direct with what he said but you understood clearly what he told you. If you ever decided not to stay and leave, you could count on him. He would be willing to leave his home, if necessary.
