I'll have to be honest, I found Koji very interesting and I don't know....What to feel about him.

 You should have known, but you didn't count on the fact that it was suspecious that Jigen had not attacked anyone until now. They were waiting for the two of them to be together, as to why, you had no idea. If they wanted them, they could have attacked the Leaf Village to retrieve Boruto, but they didn't. They waited for Kawaki and Boruto to be together, they had a plan for it you just didn't know what it was. 

Though, they probably didn't count on the fact that the Akatsuki hideout didn't just housed its members but the rest of the "criminals" that the Hidden Leaf Village didn't want. Fighting then back wouldn't be a hard task, specially since everyone here were very strong. 

But that didn't matter, they wanted Kawaki and Boruto and you needed to think of what to do to ensure that they were safe. Bombing shook the hideout, meaning that Deidara was already fighting, which could mean that other Akatsuki members were there too. 

The only option you had were Goro, Toneri, Kawaki and maybe even Boruto. But, Kawaki wouldn't leave, so was Goro because well, by now every time he left, you just banished from sight. He probably wasn't about to take that risk, even if the world was on fire. 

So, your gaze glanced from Toneri to Nagato and Yahiko. "They shouldn't be here," you started trying not to pace back and forth, "but I'm not sure if this is a trap and they're waiting for the two of them to be taken away."

Nagato nodded though he was deep in thought, "there is a place where they will be safe." A place that was protected by a very good friend of them. "Amegakure,"and as if expecting a certain reaction from Yahiko, Nagato glanced at him, "it's very difficult for just anyone to find that village so perhaps they'll be safe there.  Konan is the leader, if you ask for her help she would more than likely  to help you."

But you couldn't just leave, there was information that you needed to find and with everyone fighting, if there was an opportunity to capture one of the enemy it killing them, they end up killing them. "Toneri can take you two there, and please go with them. You know Konan, she'll listen to you."

"No," you weren't wrong that Kawaki would refuse to leave, "they're here for me and they're not going to leave until I return to them."

"I know which is why we can't have the two of you here." This time your gaze rested on Boruto, "I promised your father I would keep you safe, regardless  of how much you can protect yourself. You're going with him, and that applies to you too." 

"They're going to kill whomever crosses their path," he looked way more serious than he normally does, "and they're here to kill you too."

Those were not new news, "I know, which is why I have to stay back. They know Momoshiki is not here, but they don't know that Toneri is. They know that if I stay, Goro will too so that only leaves the two of you. They expect you to stay back, refusing to leave just like you're doing right now."

He wanted to argue but instead he found himself with no words. Boruto wasn't even looking at you, but at the ground. "If by staying here will guarantee your death, then I will stay. You've sacrificed enough and this isn't your fight."

Oh, how much you wanted to roll your eyes, smash your head against the wall. That only made Kawaki not to leave. "This is my battle."

"You're both acting like a pair of children, do as she says. Don't think just of her, think about all the deaths you will be preventing by staying safe. We still don't know why they want the two of you."

Hesitant, Boruto nodded. "besides, if you want to fight you'll get plenty of time for that but not now. Toneri just take them back."Another explosion shook the hideout, which meant that you should head out. You almost broke into a run, but you turned around to face Kawaki, Boruto, Yahiko,  and Nagato. "Please stay safe, and stay there until it's safe to return."
