It was in the middle of the night when you woke up, and with tremendous pain in you chest. And bolting up on your bed only made it worse. Someone's footsteps reached your form, then a pair of hands rested on your shoulders.

"Calm down, everything is fine." It took you a moment to recognize the voice which belonged to Nagato. He was gentle as he pushed you back so that you could lay down.

After a few moments, light flooded the room revealing Yahiko. "I'll bring you a cup of water,"but you stopped him from leaving the room.

"It's okay," Nagato moved back while Yahiko joined his friend. "There's something that I need to tell you both." The pain was making it hard to think but taking a few breaths helped you deal with it, however, you sat up again and Yahiko moved quickly to place some pillows behind  you.

Once they two males took a seat, you began to explain what had happened and why that man had actually spared your life...Since you had trusted believed what he said and it was pretty
stupid to have put your life in that man's hands. But maybe it was just wanting to end this war, to end Jigen?

The two males thought the very same thing, otherwise, they would not be giving you that look. "I...The only one who can co firm what Jigen is planning is to speak with Momoshiki or Toneri. Momoshiki is gone and our only option is Toneri, but if he ask to see him, Jigen may have people watching the Hidden Leaf Village."

"You're in luck," Konan interrupted the conversation as she joined you, Momoshiki, Boruto and Kawaki trailing behind her. The younger males looked tired and sleepy, she must have woken them up.

Momoshiki remained by the door, his gaze narrowed and looking at your wound. "The God Tree grows by absorbing blood that is spilled into the ground from countless of battles over a millennia. The Ōtsutsuki Clan travel from planet to plan in search for them, we harvest the fruit until the tree dies along with the planet."

It wasn't easy for Momoshiki to explain it, specially since he was revealing information about his clan.  "They're planning on sacrificing all human life?"Horrified Boruto explained.

"He said they plan on harvesting the biggest fruit unimaginable, which could end with humanity." Seating down wasn't good enough, instead you threw your feet to the side of the bed. "That's why before we find out what that man is planning, I have to stay hidden."

"That won't be a problem," the blue haired woman crossed her arms across her chest. " That has been taken care of."

"Taken...Care of?"

"In order for them to believe that you are indeed dead, if for them to receive those news. So I sent them those news."

You weren't the only one to look angry, Boruto did so too. "You told them all I was dead?" Even the pain on your chest didn't stop you from getting off the bed, Yahiko reaching forward and helping you. "How could you tell them that? Unplanned on explaining everything to them..."

"Then what?" It sounded as if she snapped, but her expression was unreadable. "You took this step and the right measure had to be taken and that could not wait."

"But.." Not at the expense of hurting everyone, to make everyone believe that they've lost you once again. They had plenty of loses, everything would still have worked if you talked to them and explained it all. "I need to talk them, I can't out that burden on then and then appear before then as if nothing had happened."

"No," the woman furrowed her eyebrows as she uncrossed her eyebrows, "you're going to stay here until you recuperate, while we continue to investigate."

"No," you pushed Yahiko back as you attempted to get to the door. Boruto looked conflicted, he knew what you meant but he knew the risks they would have to face if you revealed yourself to even his father.

No one moved so Konan took it upon herself to block your path, "you either do this or I'm going to force you. Go back to sleep."

A wave of dizziness sent you stumbling forward, but you still pushed forward. The woman frowned and pushed you forward, making sure to dig her finger on you wound. It was then that the others intervened. "Stop it, that's not necessary." The blond male snapped as he watched you grab in pain.

Your body had still to recuperate from the blood loss, the world began to become blurry and it started to fail you. Kawaki helped you walk to the bed.

"You're safer here," came Momoshiki's voice, "I'll make sure to investigate further." A glare, it was the last thing he spared Konan before he banished.

As soon as your head hit the pillow, you list consciousness. Maybe that wound wasn't that much of a big deal for someone else, but for you it was. Your body was so used to be able to heal itself that right now it didn't know what to do. "That was out of hand," Kawaki  told Konan, it was low and yet she knew the tone of that voice. He was pissed.

"Was I?" The woman had enough, "our village is at risk if they find out where the three of you are so I will make the right decisions that will keep it safe. Do I make myself clear?" She left the room, Nagato and Yahiko following her.

Kawaki and Boruto remained inside the room while the other three were in the living room. "Was that really necessary?"Yahiko asked, his gaze shifting to Konan's fingertips tinted with red. "She is weak and unable to fight back. W-"

Her eyes softened, holding a warmth in her eyes that was reserved for her lifelong friends. They had been everything to her, then they died. She suffered through their deaths and as much as she loved to see them alive, she could not help but feel resentment towards you. She knew why you revived them, she trully understood that but..."She needs to understand that everyone's feelings do not matter when humanity is at risk."

"Yes, bu-" this time it was Nagato. She was surprised really. Since they were alive he no longer held the reigns of leadership like he used to, instead he allowed Yahiko to do it.

She knew, she knew so well why they were being so soft to you. "What is done is done, just make sure she understands that she needs to stay here until it's safe not only for her but for everyone else. If Jigen finds out that the one responsible for killing her spared her life, he's going to end up killed and then we will be left with only that information."

For a moment she stared at the two of them longer than she intended to. She just couldn't get used to see them alive and so young. She wasn't young anymore, so it felt so strange. Their gazes looked different too, they no longer held coldness against the world. No, they had a soft touch to it and she knew why. It wasn't because Naruto helped them open their eyes, to make them understand that peace could be obtained by fear. No, it was because they were exposed to kindness.

It wasn't the very same kindness the three of them used to have years ago, because she even knew that at some point she turned sour. She had experienced war, loss and pain, all of them experienced it. They once had a single goal, and kindness wasn't one of them.

So it wasn't surprising that they had that gaze, not when they spent all of that time with you. There were kind people everywhere, but not just anyone was willing to give people a second opportunity at life. You've done that, you gave them another life for them to live as they wished. You were willing to give them the opportunity to make their own choices, which they had. It was the fact that you didn't judge them, you accepted them as they were. They were once criminals, and people treated them as such, but you didn't.

That closeness they had with you...Was the closest they could have of happiness. They had another shot at life, at being happy once this war was over. When they were alive, they never gave themselves to be happy, to find someone to be happy with. Now they did and it seemed as they they already made the choice as to who they wanted to share that happiness with.

Sadly, that rough wasn't an easy one. The two of them would have to learn to battle, but this battle wasn't one filled with bloodshed. No, this battle was filled with broken hearts. It was a matter of who would be left broken hearted, she just wished the two of them the best of luck. They will definitely need it.
