Twenty-One // Lips of an Angel // D.W.

"Fuck you!" I screamed as I threw one of my boots at my boyfriend, Tim, of two years. "Stop fucking throwing things at me!" instead, I picked up one of the photo frames of myself and Angela, Tim's sister, and threw it at him too. "Don't tell me what to do in my own goddamn house, Shepard!" I shouted as more tears cascaded down my cheeks. "You know what?!" "What!?" "I don't fucking need this!" he screamed while grasping his leather jacket from the back of the couch and pulling it on his shoulders as he turned towards me once again, "I'm gonna go find some other broad to be with!" "Yeah!? Good!" I screamed back as he opened the front door, exiting and making sure to slam the door hard enough to cause a photo frame fall off the wall.

I looked around as I whimpered before walking over to the phone, sliding to the floor as I dialed the familiar number...

"Honey why you calling me so late?
It's kinda hard to talk right now.
Honey why are you crying? Is everything okay?
I gotta whisper 'cause I can't be too loud"

"She's there... Isn't she, Dally?" I whisper in return of his own words.

"Well, my girl's in the next room
Sometimes I wish she was you
I guess we never really moved on
It's really good to hear your voice saying my name
It sounds so sweet
Coming from the lips of an angel
Hearing those words it makes me weak"

Three years we had been separated. I had begun dating Tim, his pal, and he went back to two-timing Sylvia... "Maybe it's time we stop this" I whisper to him, though nobody could hear me. We weren't cheating with each other, but we often called to reconcile our feelings. I sat up just enough to grasp the photograph of Dally and I under the phone book. We had been together for six long years I was 17 and he was 18. Now we were 25 and 26, still just as in love as before.

"And I never wanna say goodbye
But girl you make it hard to be faithful
With the lips of an angel"

I grinned sadly as I used my sleeve to clean the drying tears off my cheeks. He ironically always called me his Angel, since he was known as the complete opposite in Tulsa. My smile slowly fell, "Does she know you're on the phone with me? Have you dreamt about us- about me? I did, a few nights ago." I admitted as I leaned back against the wall, holding the picture in my hand as I viewed it with a small smile.

"It's funny that you're calling me tonight
And, yes, I've dreamt of you too
And does he know you're talking to me
Will it start a fight
No I don't think she has a clue"

"He ran out of the house, saying he was gonna find himself a new broad, and that he didn't need this anymore. All we've been doing is fighting since our last phone call, when you called me from the cooler, Dallas" I tell him truthfully, "Where is she?" I asked, furrowing my brows. I know he still stayed at Bucks, and there wasn't much privacy in the room.

"Well my girl's in the next room
Sometimes I wish she was you
I guess we never really moved on
It's really good to hear your voice saying my name
It sounds so sweet
Coming from the lips of an angel
Hearing those words it makes me weak"

"Your girl" I repeat to him as I feel a knot form in the pit of my stomach. "I miss being your girl" I whisper.

"And I never wanna say goodbye
But girl you make it hard to be faithful
With the lips of an angel

It's really good to hear your voice saying my name
It sounds so sweet
Coming from the lips of an angel
Hearing those words it makes me weak"

I grinned as I started to stand to my feet, placing the photo by the phone. "We don't have to" I heard him chuckle a bit, "Come on, Dallas. Tell me you're happy with her, honest" the phone went dead silent. "I don't want to say goodbye" I whispered,

"And I never wanna say goodbye
But girl you make it hard to be faithful
With the lips of an angel

And I never wanna say goodbye
But girl you make it hard to be faithful
With the lips of an angel"

He exhaled a deep breath, and I could hear him fumbling with something.

"Honey why you calling me so late?"

"Because I love you, and I want you to come over" I admit quickly while leaning my head against the wall. "Be faithful, leave her, Dally. For me, for us?" he stayed silent for a minute as he sighed, making me frown, until his gentle whisper came again,

"I'll be over in ten"
