"When your heart is beating really, really fast, do you ever get the feeling that it's going to burst out of your chest?"

"Why are you asking such weird questions today?"

Asteria threw Cedric a look, while continuing to push her trolley full of luggage across the King's Cross station.

Yes, the day had arrived. She was finally going to Hogwarts.

"I'm not asking weird questions."

He rolled his eyes. "It's been only five minutes since you've asked 'how much time would it take to magically heal you if you got your legs crushed under the train'— which is, for your information.. not something twelve-year-olds generally ask. Your thoughts are dark."

Ria scoffed. "You should never see my dreams if you think that's dark."

His expressions switched to concerned ones. "What— What do you see in your dreams?"

"Torture.." She whispered, making his eyes widen. "People scream.. in pain.. I see blood.. murders.. attacks.. destruction."

"Jeez, are you okay?" He asked, now really worried.

Ria chuckled. "Just kidding. Or am I?" He glared at her. "I am! I am!"

"Nah, actually, my dreams are weird." She added. "My most recent one was like.. dogs and rubies and burning mirrors."

"How do you even remember your dreams?" He asked rhetorically. "I forget them the second I wake up."

"No idea." answered Ria. "Anyway, you didn't answer my questions."

"Why do you want a question like that answered?" he asked.

Ria furrowed her eyebrows in frustration. "Merlin, you're annoying.. I just do! I'm curious."

"Curious about potentially dying?!"

"Okay!" She exclaimed as they stopped right between Platform 9 and 10. "I don't know! I just wanna take my mind off something. So, I'm trying to overthink about other things."

Cedric pursed his lips. "That does not seem like a healthy way.." He whispered. "What are you so worried about? Going to Hogwarts?"

Ria glanced at him nervously. "How did you know?"

"It's pretty obvious, actually." He shrugged. "Aunt Issy looks upset since morning. And apparently you have never really lived without her before."

"Don't make fun of me."

"I'm not." He said, his tone genuine. "It's fine. It happened with Dad and I, too." He added, and his words took Ria's attention. "After Mum died, he put his everything into raising me."

"When I left for my first year, he was worried about me. I was worried that he'd be left alone. But in the end, it turned out both of us were fine." He shrugged. "I got busy with school, he got busy with work. And when I returned home, we kept carrying on like we always did. So, don't put that much of a thought into it."
