The next day had dawned just as quick as the time that had passed during this summer. After a long day of trying to help the Dursleys pack, of them trying to accuse Harry of plotting to steal the house for the umpteenth time, and finally bidding them goodbye as they left with the members of the Order- Asteria felt as if she had already done work worth half of their academic term.

She knew they were difficult, of course, Harry had told her often. But she didn't know just how much until now.

Once they watched the Dursleys' car pull out of the driveway, they walked back inside, shutting the door and breathing out their annoyance in sync.

"I can't believe the nicest thing little Dudders Duddykin has ever told you is that you're not a waste of space." Ria scoffed, glancing at Harry when he chuckled. "Can't believe he's the best of the lot."

"Let it be, Ria." He said.

"No! They're infuriating! And I'm pretty sure they were holding back because you weren't alone!" She rolled her eyes. "Do they know there's a high chance that their Duddykin might have a wizard child?! Come on! Your mother was a witch. As Muggles, you might think they at least know how genetics work!"

"Hmm.. That would be interesting. Dudley having a wizard child." Harry's lips curled with amusement. "Think he'd come to us for advice if that happens."

"Well, I hope he does. Can't imagine letting a child suffer..." She pouted.

Harry grinned, ruffling her hair before he walking up the stairs. "I'll be back.. get all my stuff downstairs."

He picked up Hedwig's cage, his Firebolt, and his rucksack, gave his unnaturally tidy bedroom one last glance, and then made his ungainly way back downstairs to the hall, where he deposited cage, broomstick, and bag near the foot of the stairs. He heard Ria inside the kitchen, which being all empty echoed back the sound of a tune she hummed.

The light was fading rapidly now, the hall full of shadows in the evening light. It felt most strange to stand here in the silence and know that he was about to leave the house for the last time.

"You know what this reminds me of, Ria?"

"Yeah?" She peeked out of the room.

"Long back, Dursleys had gone for a nice day out, and I was left alone in the room for hours. I loved every minute of it." He saw a spark of curiosity on her face. "I ate some snacks from the fridge that weren't meant for me.. played on Dursley's computer.. put on the television for a while and watched whatever I liked.."

Ria smiled, feeling the way his heart stuttered on her finger. "So.. they're not all bad memories, huh?"

"No, no.. not all." He took Hedwig out of his cage, and he ruffled his feathers freely. "Don't you want to take a last look at the place?"
