Y/N double checked she had everything on the coffee table. She had a variety of chocolate candies, a big bowl of popcorn, a soda, a bottle of water, and a big bag of her favorite chips. She grabbed her Roku remote and turned on the TV. She couldn't decide which Disney movie to watch for the night.

The doorbell rang.

"Perfect timing." She put down the remote and grabbed the cash her mom had left for her. She rushed to the door and opened it. She was expecting the pizza guy delivering her large pizza. Instead, JJ was standing in front of her front door with a gloomy look on his face.

"Hey, JJ," Y/N stood there awkwardly. She knew him as Asher's friend, but she never really got to know him outside of that. Nor did she ever hang out with him without Asher. So, she was definitely confused why he was here. "Umm, what are you doing here? Did you get lost?" She joked.

JJ barely gave her a side smile. "I was hoping we could talk. If that's okay. Unless you're busy, I can come back. Actually, just forget it." JJ had rambled so quickly and was about to leave just as quick.

JJ has always been a very talkative person. But, he was always so happy and positive. Tonight, he didn't seem like that at all. She knew there was something wrong. She grabbed his wrist and stopped him from leaving. "JJ, I ordered some pizza. You're welcome to join me and we can talk about whatever is on your mind."

Finally, JJ smiled at her. "That would be great. Thanks."

As soon as JJ walked through the door, the pizza guy pulled up. Y/N paid him and told the guy to keep the tip. She closed the door behind him and walked towards the kitchen. JJ followed her as he had never been into her house before. He looked around, checking out her house. "Nice place."

"Thanks," she said. She opened the fridge. "What's your preference?"

JJ looked into the fully stocked fridge and was about to reach in for a beer. Y/N slapped his hand. "OW!' JJ yelled a little too loudly before laughing.

"One, my mom keeps an inventory of the alcohol in this house, and two, I'm not gonna let you drink and drive tonight," Y/N instructioned before she pointed out the variety of sodas on the top shelf of the fridge.

JJ grabbed a can of Root Beer and followed Y/N to the couch. She opened the pizza box and grabbed a slice. JJ did the same as he asked, "you were gonna have a movie night by yourself?"

Y/N shrugged her shoulders. "My mom is working tonight and I'm not exactly in a hanging out mood with anyone."

"I know what you mean, that's why I stopped by. You're the only one who knows what I'm going through." Y/N raised an eyebrow at him. She was definitely confused now. "You're experiencing heartbreak," JJ said quietly. "I am too. I like Vanessa, but it's clear she likes... Well, you know."

Y/A heart sank. She had no idea and in a way, she felt terrible. She knows what it's like to see someone she loves take an interest in someone else. Although she hasn't heard they're together, Y/N knew Asher and Vanessa were into each other. She could see it every time she saw them together at school, smiling and laughing together.

Y/N put down her pizza slice and leaned over to hug JJ. He was caught off guard, but hugged her back. He hadn't realized how much he needed a friend's comfort. He was glad he showed up at her door.

"JJ, it definitely sucks," Y/N pulled back. "But you're right. I do know how you feel. I don't like talking much about it, but I'm here if you need a friend."

"Thank you," he genuinely smiled at her. He looked at the TV and said, "we should watch The incredibles."

Y/N smiled. "Good idea."
