Y/N sat on the couch and stared at the TV. Her mind was consumed with questions about Asher. She was thrilled they finally kissed. It was something she's wanted for so long, but now that it happened, she has this weird feeling in the pit of her stomach. It wasn't butterflies. It was completely the opposite. It was twisted in knots and came with a horrible feeling.
"Honey!" Y/N's mom snapped her fingers in front of Y/N, making her jump out of her skin. She turned around and saw her mother sitting next to her. She wondered how long she had been staring at the TV because her mom wasn't home when she turned it on.
"Sorry," Y/N shook her head. "Umm, when-" Her phone buzzed. She turned it around and saw Asher's name across the screen. She pushed ignored and looked back at her mom.
She raised her eyebrow at her daughter. "Since when do you ignore Asher?"
Y/N took a deep breath. She needed to talk and she needed some advice. She couldn't think of anyone else better to vent to than her mom.
"Since we sort of kissed." Her mom didn't say anything, but motioned Y/N to continue, and she did. "And, we were fully sober. But, I don't know. I really like him."
"So, what's the problem?" She asked unsure what exactly is the problem.
"I guess I'm just hesitant to go there with him and I don't know why."
"Can I be truthful even if it might be a bit brutal?" Her mom asked. Y/N shook her head. She needed to hear the truth regardless how much it might hurt.
"In the past, you've been involved with the wrong guys and it's because you were in a bad place. Although Asher is the furtherest thing from those guys, maybe you're afraid and don't want to be reminded of your addiction."
"Yeah, it's not exactly something you forget..." Y/N trailed. "Everyday I make an active choice to stay sober."
"I know you do, baby, and you've done so well so far. So, let's find you another active and positive choice. I'm here to help in any way possible. And, if I can't, call your sponsor, okay?"
Y/N nodded. "Thank you, mom," she hugged her. "I love you."
"I love you, too, baby," she kissed the top of her head.

The next day
Y/N's hands slowly made their way around Asher's neck as their kiss deepened. Her stomach flipped when his hands rested on her waist, his fingertips pressing down on the small exposed skin just above her jeans.
As amazing and wonderful as this felt, Y/N couldn't help the worrying thoughts she had running through her mind from the previous night. She hadn't talked to Asher all day. She wanted to know how his day went, if he's heard from his mom, or anything else on his mind. He was easy to talk to, which made her comfortable around him. Talking to him was the best part of her day and she's already missing that with him. The thought suddenly crossed her mind. She was now even more afraid she would lose that if she was only focused on kissing him and whatever this was.
"How did the interview thing go?" She asked between kisses.
"It was fine," he answered quickly before capturing her lips with his.
"What'd they ask you about?" She asked.
"Mostly Spencer James," he answered again between kisses. He hoped there wouldn't be anymore talking.
"What about him?"
Asher chuckled. "I, um, would rather not talk about Spencer James right now."
