Cody grabbed and peeled a banana while Dylan washed some strawberries and grapes for himself. A rock song played through the speakers in Dylan's kitchen. The best friends had spent the majority of the day playing video games in Dylan's mancave.
It had been a while since the two got to hang out. Being actors, and also pursuing different goals, took up a lot of their free time to do anything fun. They've managed to see each other at a couple of parties and events, but it's not the same as just hanging out with your bro and catching up on life. When they both realized they had the same day off, they set up a "bromance date" as Dylan called it. Except, that bromance date was about to be interrupted.
The doorbell rang.
"Were you expecting someone?" Cody asked.
"No," Dylan answered as he looked at the small security monitor in his kitchen. He saw a familiar face smiling wide and waving directly at the camera. He couldn't help but chuckle.
"Do you know who it is?" Cody followed up.
"Yeah, I do. Mind getting it for me while I finish up here?"
Cody said he didn't mind as he got up and walked towards the front door. He unlocked it before opening it. His eyes landed on the most beautiful girl he had ever seen. Her hair was long and pulled up into a high ponytail. Her face looked fresh, practically glowing, and only wore a light coat of mascara. She had on a white t-shirt of a country band Cody had never heard of, with a pair of blue cut off shorts, and a pair of worn out Converse.
Cody's eyes flickered back to her face. Her lips were moving but he didn't hear a single word she was saying. The world around him had gone silent, almost muted as he took in the girl in front of him. Until she snapped her fingers in front of him, causing him to snap out of this trance.
"Hey, pretty boy?" She chuckled as she realized Cody finally came back from his daydreaming. "Your jaw is on the floor," she teased with a smirk.
Cody cleared his throat as he closed his mouth. He mentally cursed himself for literally looking like an idiot while drooling over her. He scratched the back of his head. "Sorry," he said trying to avoid looking at her so she wouldn't see his heated cheeks. He never had this problem before. He had no problem talking to girls, but this one? It's like she cast some spell on him.
"Is Dyl home?" She smiled.
"Right. Dylan," he chuckled to himself as he opened the door wider for her to walk in. "He's in the kitchen."
"I'm Y/N by the way," she said as she walked towards the kitchen.
Cody quickly closed the door and walked after her, "Cody."
"I know who you are," she quickly turned around to smile at him. She walked backwards until she reached the kitchen. Clearly she had been here before and Cody wondered how Dylan knew her. More importantly, why he never introduced her to him before, or at least mentioned her before.
"DYLAN!" She yelled as she ran up to him. He opened his arms before she jumped and clung on to him like a monkey. "I've missed you!" She squeezed him tight.
Dylan fake gasped, pretending he couldn't breathe. She loosened her grip and rolled her eyes before she pulled back to look at him. He ruffled her hair. "I've missed ya too."
Cody just stood there as he watched the whole exchange. He knew they weren't dating as Dylan was currently dating Samantha. Maybe she was a family member? He thought to himself as he sat on a stool and picked up his half-eaten banana.
"I'm so sorry," Dylan said as Y/N hopped off him. "This is my friend-"
"Pretty Boy," she interrupted with a smile. Cody felt his cheeks hot and he silently prayed they weren't too red.
"What?" Dylan asked with a chuckle.
Y/N giggled. "Nothing. It's an inside joke between us, right?" She asked Cody.
Before Cody could answer, Dylan said, "oh, you two have inside jokes now?"
"Yes," she smiled before she extended her hand out for a proper introduction. "Nice to meet you, Cody."
"How do you know who I am?" He asked before taking her hand.
"I see all of Dyl's work," she said while shaking his hand. He nodded, figuring out she saw Teen Wolf. "Plus, I'd never forget a pretty face," she winked back.
Dylan's eyes went back and forth between the two. Cody was nervous and quiet, which is so unlike him. His cheeks showed a hint of pink. He knew Cody was into her. Y/N was obviously hitting on him. Dylan knew them both personally and he thought those two would be perfect for each other.
"Hey," he said as an idea crossed his mind. "Why don't you two go to dinner and get to know each other. You know, like a date."
"You setting us up?" Cody asked carefully.
"She's obviously into you," Dylan gestured at Cody, "and you are the most talkative person I know, and you haven't said a word since she got here."
"I'd love to go to dinner with you," Y/N smiled at Cody. "As long as you can talk and don't leave your jaw on the floor," she giggled.
"I think dinner would be great," he chuckled. "I'm at a disadvantage here and that's totally unfair. You already know my name and what I do. I only got your name."
"I'm a singer," she said.
"Interesting," he smiled. "I'd love to hear more about it. Friday night?"
"Why wait? How about tonight?" She asked.
"He's free," Dylan answered before Cody could say he had plans with him playing video games all night. Cody looked at him, silently asking him,"Are you sure?" Dylan nodded with approval.
"Okay, tonight sounds good. Can't wait," Cody said with a bright, wide smile.
