As soon as we saw Gabe and a couple of hunters pointing guns at us, I knew we were screwed. Theo grabbed my hand before he quickly turned us around to run on the opposite direction along side of Liam. I tried to keep up with their pace, but it was humanly impossible to run as fast as a chimera and a werewolf.

Fear ran down my spine as guns were being fired. Bullets were coming from every direction. One hit Liam in the leg, causing him to stumble down. Theo clutch his shoulder as a bullet hit him.

I stopped for a split second to take a look at Theo's shoulder. "Holy shit! Are you-" I let out a piercing scream as I felt an unbearable pain around my hip area. I looked down to see blood seeping through my shirt and growing by the second.

"No, no, no," Theo repeated. He caught me before I stumbled to the floor. He groaned and fought against the throbbing pain in his shoulder as he picked me up bridal style. Theo led the way to the nurses' station with Liam by his side. They tried their best to make it behind the counter as fast as possible.

When we reached it, Theo slowly put me down before we both looked down at my hip. The spot of blood on my shirt was growing by the minute. He pressed his hand down, hoping to help stop the bleeding with the pressure. My eyelids felt heavy. I blinked slowly, trying to fight my sleep. Theo cupped my cheek with his free hand. "Baby, you need to look at me, okay? I need you to stay awake."

"Okay," I whispered. "I'll try."

"Please, try harder. I need you, Y/N," he begged, panic evident in his voice. Tears fell down his cheeks when I said nothing back. My throat was too try and the pain was too much to whisper another word. "Baby," he whispered, "please, I love you. I need you."

His words made me smile and I felt some of the pain disappear. My eyes flickered down to his arm and noticed the veins in his forearm were black. He finally took someone's pain, and of all the people, he took mine.

"I knew you cared about me," I chuckled, earning a slight chuckle from Theo. His smile completely vanished as I started coughing up blood.

"No, no, no," Theo repeated again, knowing this wasn't a good sign.

Suddenly Melissa appeared out of nowhere. "I got her, Theo. You, Liam, and Nolan take care of the hunters."

"No! I'm not leaving her behind," he said.

"If you don't help Liam and Nolan, then we're all going to die. Let me do my job and save her. You do yours by protecting us."

"Theo..." I whispered.

"I'm right here, baby," he grabbed my hand.

"I'll be fine. Go... please."

Theo looked at me one more time. I could tell he was struggling to leave me as he tried his best to fight back the tears in his eyes. He closed his eyes and let out a shaky breath. He growled, immediately shifting into his werewolf form. He stood up from behind the nurses' counter and ran towards the hunters, helping Liam and Nolan.

I heard more gun shots and loud roars as Melissa looked at my wound. "Okay, I need to get you to an operating room just around the corner. You think you can help me get you there?"

I nodded. "I'll try."

Theo, Liam, and Nolan distracted the hunters as Melissa and I made their way to the room. When we arrived, Melissa quickly put me on the table and  pulled up my shirt. As I looked up at the bright white light above me, my mind raced back to Theo, his beautiful blue eyes, and the way he called me baby. He had never done that before and I loved it, just like I loved him. I needed to fight for my life, but somehow it seemed harder to do. I felt weaker than I did a few minutes ago.

"Melissa...?"

"Honey, I need you to stay awake. I know this is going to hurt like hell, but try not to scream so much, okay?"

"I can't feel anything.... I see darkness..." I mumbled before my world faded to black.

I fluttered my eyes open as the sound of a beeping machine echoed through my ears. I adjusted my eyes, not that I needed to. The room was dimmed with only one light on. I felt a hand holding on to mine. I looked down to see Theo's head resting against the edge of the bed, asleep. He looked so uncomfortable trying to sleep in a chair and leaning over on my bed.

I reached out with my other hand and slipped my fingers through his soft brown hair. Theo stirred a little bit before he let out a small groan. "Theo," I whispered as I massaged his scalp.

His eyes flew wide open at the sound of my voice. "Oh, thank God," he mumbled as he sat up straight. Theo winced as his bones cracked.

"Are you okay?" I asked.

He shook it off. "Don't worry about me. Are you okay? Do you need anything? Another blanket? Fluff your pillow? How about-"

"Water," I said with a small smile. Theo quickly got the small pink pitcher and poured some water in a glass. He held the cup in front of my face and pushed the straw towards my lips. The coolness brought a sudden relief down my throat.

Theo put the cup on the rolling table before he sat on the chair by my bed. He held my hand with both of his. "I thought-" he swallowed hard.

"Theo?" He looked up from our hands. "Come here." Theo leaned in closer, but it wasn't close enough. "A little bit closer." He furrowed his eyebrows, but still did what he was told to do. "Closer..."

When Theo's face was inches from mine, I cupped his cheeks and closed the distance between us with my lips against his. Theo was taken back, but was quick to move his lips in perfect sync with mine. Nothing had felt more right in this moment. The butterflies fluttering in my stomach, the fireworks behind my eyelids, and the goosebumps covering every inch of my body was proof.

"What was that for?" Theo breathe as we pulled back. He pressed his forehead against mine.

"I had this amazing dream where this cute guy confessed his feelings for me because he thought I was dying," I teased with a smirk.

Theo shook his head as he pulled back. "That's not funny. There were a thousand thoughts running through my mind. If you didn't survive, how could I survive without you? I would have beaten myself up everyday for not saving you. I would have had sleepless nights and haunted dreams of that moment for the rest of my life."

"Hey," I cupped his cheek and brushed my thumb against his cheekbone. "I survived. I'm here and it's because of you."

"Me?" Theo asked confused.

I nodded my head. "The last thing I thought about was you. Theo, I need you too, because I'm in love you too."

Theo's eyes welled up with tears before he leaned in and kissed me again, this time with so much passion and tenderness. "I love you so much, baby."

I smiled against his lips. "Say that again."

Theo chuckled, "Baby, I love you."
