Fancy Restaurant

Lena and Jack sat at a table, the candle light glimmering on Lena, making her look more beautiful than she already was. "Thanks for coming," Jack said, taking in the beauty before him. "I know L-Corp's very demanding."

"I do enjoy it, you know. For what it's worth," Lena said.

"You always loved a challenge...You look stunning, by the way," Jack said and Lena smiled at him.

"Oh, my God!"

Lena looked in the direction of a familiar voice to see Iris and Mon-El standing together, smiling at them in surprise. "Are you guys eating here?"

"We're eating here!" Iris exclaimed.
"We're eating here!" Mon exclaimed.

"What a complete and utter coincidence," Lena said and Iris laughed. "Ms. West," Jack said as he got up.

"Yeah, this is my boyfriend, Mike," Iris said, gesturing to Mon.

"Mike," Mon muttered before he and Jack shook hands.

"Hi. I explicitly asked that I be the handsomest guy in the restaurant tonight," Jack said and Mon laughed as Iris walked over to Lena.

"He's charming," Mon said.

"Do you mind if we join?" Iris asked.

"Yeah, let's sit here," Mon said as the two sat by Lena and Jack.

Lena then leaned over to Iris, and whispered, "Iris, I appreciate the rescue, but it's not necessary."

"That's what friends are for," Iris whispered back and Lena slightly smiled as Iris looked at Jack. "So, Jack, how's the Biomax rollout going?"

"Are you trying to get me in your crosshairs, Ms. West?" Jack asked.

"A reporter's job is never done," Iris said.

"I can respect it. Uh, Biomax is going wonderfully. So far," Jack said.

"So, how did you know it was ready? Did you, uh, do any trials? Human trials?" Iris asked.

"It's all public record if you're curious," Jack said and Iris grumbled under her breath.

"How did you figure it out?" Lena asked and Jack looked at her. "I want to know."

"Is that the only reason you came?" Jack asked.

"No," Lena said with a smirk.

"Uh, okay, so, a few months after you left, I stayed up all night. And the sun came up, and there was a flock of starlings going by. And they were all moving in perfect sync. Like when one turned, all the others turned. And I thought, I've made a terrible mistake. I should have gone with her. I'm no good without her," Jack explained and Lena stared at him nervously. "And then I realized I had been modeling the nano swarm on the wrong kind of animal. See, bees need a base, a queen, to revolve around. We'd been trying to make a nanobot into a queen by programming a protective algorithm, but..."

"Oh, my God. Murmuration," Lena said with a smile. "The nano swarm, it migrates. It's linked AI sentience."

"And it's all controlled through the Spheerical lab mainframe...And I would never have gotten there if I hadn't been thinking about you," Jack said and Lena continued to smile.

"Anyway, I...I was also wondering-" Iris awkwardly cut in.

"Maybe another time," Jack said.

"Oh. Lena, are...Are you, um..."
