CCPD

When Barry arrived that day, Mendez approached him. "All right. Hey, Bar," Mendez said.

"Yeah?" Barry asked.

"Have you seen Detective West? I told him that if he was late again, he'd be facing a ten day RIP," Mendez said.

"Uh, yeah, no, he mentioned something yesterday, actually, about running another canvass on that Jefferson case," Barry lied.

"Oh! Okay. Then I can see why he hasn't answered me for the past hour," Mendez said.

"Uh...maybe he's in a weird zone or something. A we...Cell zone," Barry said, but Mendez walked away from him. Once far enough away, Barry zoomed off.

West Household

When Barry arrived at the house, he knocked but no one answered. So he opened the door, that was unlocked, and walked in. "Detective West? De...Detective?" Barry asked, but he saw Joe on the couch, surrounded by liquor and takeout, passed out. "Oh, no. No. Hey, Joe, you got...Ohh... I'm sorry about this, Joe." Barry then grabbed Joe and rushed him into the shower.

CCPD

Next thing Joe knew, was that he was dressed, showered, cleaned, and in a elevator, going into the precinct. "What the-" Joe started.

"Afternoon, Detective."

Joe looked to see that Barry was in the corner of the elevator with him. "Oh, hey, Allen," Joe said.

"Hey. So I told Captain Mendez you were canvassing for the Jefferson case again. Breath mint?" Barry asked before he got out a case of breath mints, and Joe took one.

"What...why are you talking to the Captain about me?" Joe asked.

"Oh, you're just a little late again," Barry said.

"That's my business, not yours," Joe said.

"I was just trying to help you out," Barry said, then the elevator bell rang and they walked off.

"Am I wearing a sign that says Help me?" Joe asked.

"Might as well be," Barry said.

"Look, like they say in the movies, we're not partners and we're not friends. You don't know me. You don't know my life, so why the sudden interest in me keeping my lousy job? And what the hell makes me so interesting to you, Mr. Allen? Tell me. I'd really like to know," Joe said.

"I..."

"And remember, I have a hangover. And a gun," Joe said.

"I..." But then like a angel right out of heaven, Kara walked off the elevator and walked up to Barry, and Joe raised his eyebrows.

"Oh, I get it," Joe said.

"What?" Barry asked.

"No. I do not approve," Joe said.

"Hi, Barry," Kara said then she looked at Joe. "Joe."

"Kara. You think it's a good idea, dating somebody I work with?" Joe asked.

"It's just a lunch. And truthfully, I wasn't even sure you still worked here," Kara said and Joe sighed annoyed.

"How's Iris?" He asked. "Don't know. She ran off with an alien, named Mon-El. Haven't really spoken to her. But if you really want to know, pick up the phone and call her yourself," Kara said bitterly before she looked at Barry. "You ready?"
